Best Aquarium in Australia! - This would be the best aquarium I have been to. Well laid out and great shows, with a wonderfully informative talk given about the coral reef by one of the marine biologists. The shark feeding show in the main tank was great and highly recommend watching. We did the Aquarium prior to a reef cruise and snorkeling trip and highly recommend doing it this was as you gain a greater appreciation and knowledge of the importance of the Great Barrier Reef and the marine life that depends on it. We could also identify so many of the fish we saw whilst snorkeling. A visit to Dundee’s restaurant attached to the Aquarium post visit is also recommended-try the croc sliders and spring rolls!

An excellent visit - It was well worth the ticket price, to see and learn, all life forms within the aquarium are well cared for, great for learning about and concerns for river, marine and forests life forms. We all enjoyed our visit and we had a 9 month old child in our party who was happy to spend a couple of hours enjoying all the displays and the marine life,

Good couple of hours - Kids loved it. I was surprised at how small it was though. For the price you pay there wasn’t enough to see. But still a lovely place .

Great aquarium - The aquarium is well laid out and has a good flow of exhibits to follow. For a first visit it’s well worth a visit. It needs more audiovisual for the kids as they got a bit restless which did deteriorate our experience.

A good few hours well spent - The aquarium was easy to walk around and description posters were easy to read. The exhibits allowed close viewing of the fish and animals, so interesting to be up close and personal. A good few hours well spent

Ok - a bit pricey - Visited the aquarium as part of our trip to Cairns. There are lots of exhibits and tanks, with some impressive fish and other aquatic animals. If you're there at the right time, you can see some feeding. Despite what the staff member said about the whiprays being as big as they can get - they do get bigger than the ones at this aquarium, as I have fed them in Darwin at the Territory Wildlife park and they are significantly bigger. Some of the glass at the aquariums was difficult to see in, especially the curved rounded ones. We have been to better aquariums and worse ones, This is in between. It is quite pricey for what it is. They would really benefit from a proper touch tank/pool. There is a very small one where you can touch one starfish and some shark eggs. Compared to other aquariums, where they have whole dedicated touch pools with plenty of animals to touch, this paled in comparison. Ok for a visit, if you were trying to narrow it down to only a few things to do in Cairns then I would maybe consider giving this a miss in favour of other attractions/experiences.

Cairns aquarium as a family - $163 was very pricy for a family trip to the aquarium. If you are visiting from Australia I’d say if you’ve seen one you’ve seen them all and I would save the money. If you travel out to the reef you wouldn’t need to go to the aquarium but definitely check it out if you have never been to an aquarium before or can’t get out to see the reef. We found the talks needed to be spaced out a bit more as we would have had to rush through to get to each one and we couldn’t go back through as our youngest was very overwhelmed. It’s bright and colourful for the kids and they enjoyed watching the scuba divers cleaning tanks and feeding the fish. Staff were friendly and the one talk we did see the presenter was very engaging and knows her stuff.
