Best Aquarium in Australia - We've been to Sydney aquarium and several times to Melbourne aquarium and Cairn Aquarium is hands down the best! There are so many fish and so much education and the fish tanks are just gorgeous! We stayed way longer than usual and it was just perfect to top it off with a lunch at the restaurant which has a huge glass wall that allows you to continue enjoying the fish as they literally swim past your table. Next time when in Cairns we will surely go again.

Great way to spend the day - Great way to start a vacation. Many of the fish I was unfamiliar with. The fish feeding and tunnel were the stand outs

See the ocean creatures in the Cairns Aquarium - Our family, including our granddaughter, loved the seeing the fish and oceanic creatures, including sharks. Cairns Aquarium has three different observation tanks from where you can see the ocean creatures from the Great Barrier Reef cruising around. The fish are wonderful, they live in the tanks, and you can see them there. The Aquarium is located in the center of Cairns, it's easy to find.

Worth the ticket price - We were initially a bit taken back by the price, but turned out to be worth it. Really thorough and fulsome series of displays about the wildlife of the region. Highlight was the reptile display, the best (if you don’t want to just see crocs) that we found around Cairns. Allow 2 hours, but can be done in less.

The Best Of The Best - I’ve been to a few different aquariums and have to say that Cairns Aquarium is hands down the best I’ve seen. The staff are very friendly, it’s very clean and the exhibits are very well maintained and clean. The animals all look to be very well cared for and have so much room to swim, slither, walk and whatever else they need to do. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Cairns visiting or if you’re a local (locals, make sure you ask for a locals discount, you’ll just need ID).

Great educational outing for anyone! - So beautiful, well maintained. Staff were lovely. Could easily spend hours just reading and learning everything, but my energetic child wouldn’t allow that 😅 he had a fantastic time.

Was surprised at how... - Was surprised at how little the aquarium was. Had some cool things, but seems like you can see more of Australia in USA than in Australia. Overall, it was still worth seeing to fill vacation time.

Disappointed this time round - Disappointed this time round :( We had really talked up the experience to our three generation family group as three of us had been in previous years and really enjoyed it those times. The biggest disappointment was with the large walk through viewing tunnel and viewing platforms prior and after - previously there were many types of sharks swimming around, this time there appeared to be much fewer stingrays and no large sharks at all. For our family who hadn't been there before, their response after the hour walk through was 'it that it?!'. Suggest if you have limited funds and need to chose between Cairns Aquarium and Hartley's Crocodile Farm, the Crocodile Farm is the far better value for money.

Frequently visiting please show appreciation to Locals - As a Cairns local I like to recommend and tell people about the aquarium but I find when I take visitors to the facility and have to pay a full fare when I’ve been there so many times is not practical for me so why should I accompany my friends and relatives Yes I used to take out a yearly subscription but yeah that doesn’t even help now days I wish the aquarium would appreciate locals who do return visits and maybe some sort of incentive to bring people to the facility but not be charged a full fare maybe a frequent flyer type scheme would be great
