A day in paradise - Such a beautiful part of Australia and so much history as the oldest Rainforest in the world. We enjoyed the gondola up to Kuranda and the opportunity meander through the town and shop or have lunch. Learning the history of the train and how it was constructed was also very interesting. A great day all round.

Great trip - We bought the combined ticket with skyrail in the morning and Karunda Scenic Railway in the afternoon and transfer back to the Skyrail terminal. This all worked very smoothly and still allowed 3 hours in Karunda Village for shopping and lunch in the middle of the day. The views were spectacular throughout. The free Skyrail audio commentary which you can download on to your phone was ok, but was silent for most of the journey. I'm sure there is more to say about this spectacular place and feat of engineering. In contrast the Karunda Scenic Railway commentary and free information leaflet were just right.

Ra nui ki waho - Great trip - This trip was tino pai. Micheal was on time to collect us and was knowledgeable about the local area providing information on the way to dropping us off at the Skyrail and back from the train. There was enough time spent in Kuranda for the moko and myself to see what we wanted. Kia ora rawa atu.

Great day out in Kuranda - The train was an engineering marvel for its day and so was the track. The scenery was beautiful. Make sure you take water with you although there was a water cooler on board the carriage. The sky rail was cancelled on the day, but our tour guide Michael from Cairns Tours drove us up to Kuranda and gave a good commentary along the way. The Butterfly Cafe has good pies. It was a very humid and warm day though. The shop which has baskets of bracelets outside all made of crystals also has a beautiful international collection of crystals downstairs along with fossils and interesting relics. Take some dollar coins with you, they will come in handy. We had a great day!

Nice experience and a must do in Cairns - Taking the sky rail going up, stopping at various spot along the way and also taking the train one way back. Great overall experience. The small group tour is basically a pickup from hotel and dropping off at Sky rail station and then picking up from the train station at Fresh water station and dropping back at the hotel. All in a 15 people mini van. The tour operator also booked our sky rail ticket and one way train ticket coming back. There was nothing else involved in the effort. Anyone can take uber and go to sky rail station from hotel and come back from train station to hotel same way using uber. You can book your own one way sky rail and train tickets on your own. Overall this tour - small group or big group is overpriced by 80 to 100 dollars. Nothing against the tour operator. He delivered exactly what was promised. Michael was a wonderful gentleman and helped out all along the way.

Rainforest turned touristy - Michael, the driver from the hotel to the Skyrail was awesome! Gave us a lot of history and laughs. The tour itself was OK. Beautiful to see the rainforest from the gondolas, but also VERY crowded and sharing gondolas with others. No food or drink on the SkyRail, and the stops off the SkyRail do not allow a lot of time or space to really *explore* the rainforest. Kuranda is quite touristy and there is quite a bit of time spent there. Train back was crowded and warm, and no real stops to actually see the rainforest. Average experience. Likely good for families and children.
