Tour to Giza Pyramids, Memphis, Sakkara & Dahshur Pyramids
Pyramids of Giza - At 8:00 am, you will be picked up from your hotel in either Cairo or Giza by an Emo Tours guide to begin your full-day tour. Visit the Great Pyramids - Cheops, Chephren & Mykerinos, then explore the Valley Temple where the priests mummified King Chephren’s body. You will also get a close-up view of The Sphinx, the legendary guardian with a lion’s body and the head of King Chephren.
A camel ride around the Great Pyramids is included, as well as a visit to the Solar Boat Museum and the Great Pyramid.
Lunch is provided at a local restaurant between visits, with a full meal for each person, but beverages are not included.
Saqqara (Sakkara) Pyramids - Next, visit Sakkara, located 27 km southwest of Cairo. See the Step Pyramid (built for King Zoser), an important part of the pyramid evolution from the simple mastaba to its well-known form.
Dahshur Lake - Then, visit the Dahshur Pyramids. Dahshur is a royal necropolis in the desert on the west bank of the Nile, about 40 kilometers (25 miles) south of Cairo. It is known for several pyramids, two of which are among the oldest, largest, and best-preserved in Egypt, built between 2613–2589 BCE.
Memphis and Sakkara - Finally, visit Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt, where you can see the colossal statue of Ramses II and the great Alabaster Sphinx. This city dates back to 3100 B.C. At the end of the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
Meals included: Breakfast & Lunch
Giza Plateau - The Giza Plateau (Arabic: هضبة الجيزة‎) is located on the outskirts of Cairo, Egypt. It is the site of the Fourth Dynasty Giza Necropolis, which includes the Great Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, the Sphinx, several cemeteries, a workers’ village, and an industrial complex.
Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) - Khufu’s pyramid complex includes a valley temple, now buried beneath the village of Nazlet el-Samman. Diabase paving and nummulitic limestone walls have been found, but the site has not been excavated. The valley temple was connected to a causeway, largely destroyed when the village was built. The causeway led to the Mortuary Temple of Khufu, of which only the basalt pavement remains. The mortuary temple was connected to the king’s pyramid, completed in 2560 BC, which has three smaller queen’s pyramids and three boat pits associated with it.
Khafre’s Pyramid - Khafre’s pyramid complex includes a valley temple, the Sphinx temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple yielded several statues of Khafre, some of which were found in a well in the temple floor by Mariette in 1860.
Menkaure Pyramid - Menkaure’s pyramid complex includes a valley temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple once contained several statues of Menkaure. During the 5th Dynasty, a smaller ante-temple was added to the valley temple.
Great Sphinx - The Sphinx dates from the reign of King Khafre. During the New Kingdom, Amenhotep II dedicated a new temple to Hauron-Haremakhet, which was later expanded by other rulers.
Step Pyramid of Djoser - The Pyramid of Djoser (or Djeser and Zoser), also known as the Step Pyramid, is an archaeological site in the Saqqara necropolis, northwest of the city of Memphis.
