• Cairo Citadel - Our representative will pick you up from your hotel to visit the Citadel of Cairo, also known as the Citadel of Saladin. This medieval Islamic fortification in Cairo, Egypt, was built by Salah ad-Din (Saladin) and further developed by later Egyptian rulers. It served as the seat of government and the residence of Egypt’s rulers for nearly 700 years, from the 13th to the 19th centuries. Located on a promontory of the Mokattam hills near central Cairo, it offers a strategic vantage point overlooking the city and dominating its skyline. At the time of its construction, it was one of the most impressive and ambitious military fortification projects of its era.
• Mosque of Muhammad Ali - The Great Mosque of Muhammad Ali Pasha, also known as the Alabaster Mosque, is located within the Citadel of Cairo. It was commissioned by Muhammad Ali Pasha between 1830 and 1848.
• Coptic Cairo - Next, we will move on to Coptic Cairo. This area of Old Cairo includes the Babylon Fortress, the Coptic Museum, the Hanging Church, the Greek Church of St. George, and many other Coptic churches and historical sites. According to Christian tradition, the Holy Family visited this area and stayed at the site of Saints Sergius and Bacchus Church.
• Hanging Church (El Muallaqa, Sitt Mariam, St Mary) - Saint Virgin Mary’s Coptic Orthodox Church, also known as the Hanging Church, is one of the oldest churches in Egypt, dating back to the third century. It is part of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria.
• Synagogue Ben Ezra - The Ben Ezra Synagogue, sometimes called the El-Geniza Synagogue or the Synagogue of the Levantines (al-Shamiyin), is located in the Fustat area of Old Cairo, Egypt. According to local folklore, it is situated on the site where baby Moses was found.
