One the worlds great museums - Well, I'm a museum snob and this is truly one of the world's great museums. The architecture is excellent and the works are displayed in an open airy format that controls the crowds. The descriptions are helpful, although I could have used a little more overall historical context at the start of each gallery and works' dates, not just dynasties. . I would suggest getting there when it opens and going directly to the King Tut galleries in area 7 on the third floor. I avoided the crowds which arrived around 10:00.

Museum is fantastic but beware the official taxi rank - The new museum is just fantastic, you need to book in advance and there are no touts inside. Buy the self guided tour headset and go at your own pace. You could see the guided tours been whisked around and only seeing a fraction. The highlight is Tutankhamen it’s at the end so make sure you don’t miss it. The only downside was the official taxi rank, we agreed a price and allocated to a scruffy taxi and a driver called himself Vin Diesel. We were quoted 15$ once we were underway he then claimed we’d booked to go to a nearby hotel. Very intimidating and uncomfortable experience. The museum really needs to monitor their official taxi rank.

A dive between History and Evolution - Pure spectacle... greatness, modernity that embraces a 3,000-year history. Order, breadth, balance of the rooms... a show to be experienced. Egypt a LIFELONG HISTORY. How beautiful is evolution.

Huge place - plan what you want to see - We visited on a Sunday afternoon in January. It was very busy. It is a very impressive place, probably without parallel. We found it surprisingly hard to find the King Tut exhibits (off gallery 7). Although there were lots of cleaning / maintenance staff around, we didn’t see any museum staff in the exhibition galleries. The help desk staff were great. The cafes / restaurants in the museum were very busy.

Fantastic museum - excellent value for money and highly recommend - Very glad to see that tickets were made available online and it very much simplified the entire process. A simple online ticket selection, payment and receiving tickets by email is a treat in comparison with may other tourist attractions. Arriving to the museum for our reserved time slot - entry was easy, a simple scan often QR codes that were received by email and we were in, ready and about to explore the museum the world waited so long for. $1bn+ cost, more than 100,000 priceless artifacts and it was little wonder we enjoyed spending hours walking through the halls, galleries and soaking up the ancient Egyptian treats on display. This is a highly recommended trip for anyone visiting Egypt, otherwise any local of expat living here. The ticket prices are fantastic and definitely value for money. We chose to dine in the small cafe inside the main hallway area and, well, it wasn’t fantastic, but I’m sure they’re turning out large amounts of dishes per day from their reasonable-sized menu and so perhaps expecting great quality wasn’t necessarily a good idea. Overall, this is a solid 9/10 and we’ll definitely return for more relaxing walk around next time - not at a weekend.
