Humbling experience - My experience visiting the Coptic and Islamic Cairo with Mohamed was refreshing and eye opening. Mohamed was knowledgeable but thru the tour, was emphatic that in Egypt there is no difference between Muslims and Christians. A refreshing view given what is happening in the region. Highly recommend this trip with Mohamed and Hassan as our wonderful driver!

Fantastic activity - Mokhtar was a wonderful guide and such a friendly person. He explained things clearly and carefully, sharing his detailed knowledge in an enjoyable way. He was always able to answer my questions and we always moved on to the next place at my pace. A great tour if you want to learn about the religious background of Egypt. Highly recommend 😊

Religious heritage of Cairo - It was our second tour with this organizer and it didn't disappoint. We learned a lot from our guide about the religious heritage of Cairo. It was well worth to take an organized tour in this bustling city. Usually i like to organize everything by myself, but in Cairo i think we saved a lot of time and headache by going on an organized tour. Wouldn't do it differently in the future.

Cairo a vibrant city - We booked our tour with Life Egypt tours and Mohamed Hussein was our guide. Mohamed was on time and polite. He guided us through Old Cairo as he provided the historical context with a timeline of invasions, constructions, destructions and reconstruction of forts, churches and mosques. He was patient as we shopped at oil essence and papyrus and then to the Khan Al-Khalil bazaar. He was protective of the whole family, so we as tourist are not taken advantage of. Cairo is a vibrant city, with a lot of soul. Thanks to Mohamed’s guidance we enjoyed it tremendously. I highly recommend Life Egypt Tours.

Fantastic tour of Abu Serga church and Coptic Cairo, with very friendly guide and driver. - Mohamed as our guide made this a truly memorable tour. Walking us around the coptic areas and visitng Abu Sega on Christmas Day, the place Mary, Joseph and Jesus stayed. He was very knowledgeable. He had a rapport with officials, and was always willing to take our photos and took lots so we could pick out the best ones. Always patient and empathetic to us and where we wante to go, or not go. His driver was always there and waiting for the next stage, even slowing down if he saw us taking photos from the car. Skipping a couple of locations was not a problem. He additionally took us into the greek orthodox church. Not as expensive as some other tours we felt it was very very good values for the price and would highly recommend it. We wished Mohamed and his driver could have been our guide for every tour we took.

Coptic Cairo and Citidal - Our first full day in Ciaro I used Viatour. This is super value and we had a very good guide (Emad). It was only the 2 of us, and basically he and driver were willing to do things we requested, plus he suggested other things. Was our first experience w Viatour and we will use them again! Great value.

Okay, but not quite what we had hoped - Our guide, Emad, was very experienced and answered any questions we had about the sites we visited. The sites were all very beautiful and it was really interesting to learn about the the religious history of the city. Unfortunately there were a few elements that made it less enjoyable compared to other tours we have been on. At the mosque he told us about the role of women in Islam. He communicated some things about women and marriage in a way that was confusing, he was saying polygamy was common practice and good because women only care about money and they are mostly important for reproduction. He then told us it actually isn’t common at all when we questioned him further, and I got the impression he chose to describe it this way to more surprise us than inform us. I asked him about the layout of the mosque for prayer in terms of where men and women pray as we had discussed this in the Ben Ezra synagogue before. He chose to explain the reasoning for women to pray at the back and men at the front to avoid “doggy style” in the mosque. Which was an uncomfortable way to describe a religious tradition, however I am from a very secular area so I am not overly familiar with current interpretations of religious traditions, of which I’m sure there are many. We would have preferred to learn more about the significance of the buildings and religion in Egyptian history and recent history. Finally, we went to the Khan-el-khalili bazaar and had 50 minutes to spend there. He forewarned us that most of the wares are imported and not made in Egypt which put us off buying much there but it was interesting to walk around and we did not get hassled much. This is no fault of Emad’s, but I would advise other visitors to visit on their own without the time pressure of an itinerary, as when we drove away we saw the bazaar spread much further across both sides of the road and there was much more nationally produced and local items in other areas with less stuff geared towards tourists.
