Great offroad experience and interesting valley, but we got too little time at the valley - The guide who picked us up at the hotel was fine, but nothing extraordinary. During our 1-week stay at Cairo, we had several guides and I would rate this one as one of the least interesting ones. Not to get confused, he was very friendly and kind. But the others used to tell us a lot more interesting facts - even on the way in the car. Once we got to the Whales Valley, we started at the museum there. The guide basically told us just a short version of the texts written in the museum. If we wanted to read the whole texts to get a better idea, we needed to take a picture and read afterwards, because everything seemed to be in hurry. Then we got out and he gave us 15 minutes (fifteen!) to see the whole outdoor area!! Meanwhile he was waiting at the parking lot. This is basically the one thing why we bought the whole tour and we get 15 minutes. The area is large and in no way people are able to make it! So we took about 35 or 40 minutes and returned being sad we couldn't make it till the end. My brother is stubborn so he walked until the end, so we waited for him at the parking lot, but still he couldn't take as much time as ideally needed. This is probably the reason why we didn't have the chance to experience the sand boarding at the end, which made us a little sad because we were looking forward to it. The waterfalls are not that interesting as we thought, but it is nobody's fault. And it's still pretty interesting to see such thing in the middle of a desert. The lunch in the camp was good, the camp itself was interesting and looks very good. The toilets are sooo clean! Even cleaner than our hotel was. Now to the best part: given the circumstances (we got so little time in the valley) we weren't able to enjoy the valley us much, the offroad ride through the desert was the best experience of the day. Our driver was a great, funny guy. He drove like a crazy. According to Waze, we were driving 100 km/h through the desert, enjoyed the dunes. You could really see the guy makes his living just by being like a little boy on a huge playground all day everyday. We laughed a lot, and I had 100% trust in his skills. He really made our experience a great one, and only because of him I am giving a 5* review - he even got the biggest bakshees from us that day, even more than the guide. All in all it was a great experience, and it was so interesting to see the skeletons in the middle of the desert! If we ever find ourselves in Cairo again, we will for sure do this tour again - but will make sure that the valley is the only thing of that day, so we can fully enjoy. If anyone is considering this tour, do not be discouraged by this review. Rather take it as something to tell you more about the day. If you feel so, ask your guide to skip something to get more time for what is the most interesting for you. I definitely recommend seeing this. But also watch some documentaries about this topic beforehand so that you have a better idea, in case the guide doesn't share too much info :)

An unforgetabble day in Fayoum - This experience is relaxed, personal, and driven by Ahmed’s bright, engaging personality. From the start, his energy sets the tone for the entire day. He is warm, upbeat, and genuine, which makes the experience feel less like a tour and more like an adventure shared with a friend. The day is not rushed or overly structured. Ahmed encourages curiosity, conversation, and laughter, creating an easy, joyful atmosphere while still sharing meaningful context about Fayoum, the desert, and the whale fossils. The drive from Cairo becomes part of the experience, filled with good energy and connection. Visiting the whale fossils was fascinating. Lunch at a Bedouin rest area in the desert is a true highlight, offering a peaceful break in a beautiful setting. Travelers should know that much of what makes this experience special is Ahmed himself. His positivity, sense of humor, and genuine hospitality leave you feeling energized and cared for throughout the day. If you value a guide with a vibrant spirit who creates a memorable, personable experience, this tour is an excellent choice.

A Whale of a Time! - We are so glad for this tour with Emo Tours. We had a whale of a time amid awesome ancient seabeds and marine fossils, learning about the geological history of the sea-desert, and finding saltwater waterfalls and lakes amid endless sand dunes. The desert campsite and lunch was a brief yet pleasant experience of desert life, and a welcome respite from Cairo’s urban sprawl. Thanks Fahd(guide) and Adil(driver) for this holiday-within-a-holiday experience!

Program not met - Route not respected. No visit to Tunis, view of the lake from afar! Broken promises. No audio-visual in French. The 4×4 tour was very good. Interesting whale valley. But you can't see more sites. Meal very good. Too much time wasted in camp. Bad organization.
