Highlights
  • Dorgali - From this area, you will begin the trek that leads to the entrance of the gorge. Gorropu is a gorge formed by erosion, stretching one and a half kilometers and marking the boundary between the Barbagia region of Orgosolo and the Ogliastra region of Urzulei. Over time, the Rio Flumineddu stream, which runs at the bottom, has shaped the gorge. The stream is fed by waters traversing the Supramonte, some of which flow through underground tunnels and some re-emerge from springs downstream. The torrent has carved the limestone rock to create the canyon. The walls of the gorge contain fossils that indicate its underwater origin, dating back between 190 and 60 million years.
  • Escursioni Gorropu Dorgali - You will hike among the rocks of the canyon. These carbonate rocks are millions of years old and contain various fossils (shells, sea urchins), evidencing the marine origin of this place.
  • Cala Gonone - You will depart from this village to reach the starting point of the trek. The off-road journey will take you along a road offering stunning views of both mountains and sea.
