• Chafariz das Cinco Bicas - Visit the biggest fountain in the city and the Water Garden - one of the most urban biggest ceramics work in Portugal made by the great master Ferreira da Silva from Porto

Long before the concept of SPAs was introduced, Portuguese Queen D. Leonor possessed her personal ‘Pool’, which you’ll have the opportunity to visit. She devised this idea after witnessing people bathing in naturally heated springs in a quest to alleviate their ailments. Struck by the sight, the Queen commissioned a thermal hospital to be constructed at that exact location the subsequent year (in 1485).

This excursion also involves a visit to the local Church of Nossa Senhora do Pópulo, colloquially known as ‘Our Lady of the People’. Despite its modest size, the church boasts rich artistic grandeur and houses some of the initial exemplars of the ‘Manueline Architecture’, an architectural style intrinsic to Portugal.
