Embark on a magical winter adventure in Lake Louise and Marble Canyon. Explore the stunning landscapes, indulge in delicious treats, and experience the thrill of snowshoeing.
- Marble Canyon - Explore 7 bridges in Marble Canyon during winter, walking in a zigzag pattern over the deep limestone canyon and the winding creek below. This canyon is where Tocum Creek meets the Suzaku River. It’s a site of ancient Cambrian fossils, showcasing soft-bodied creatures from millions of years ago. A narrow path over the creek offers views of the canyon below, with a frozen waterfall cascading from above on the right. The stunning landscape and refreshing pools are truly impressive.
- Lake Louise - In winter, continue your journey to the enchanting Lake Louise in the Rocky Mountains, backed by the Victoria Glacier. From January to April each year (depending on official opening hours), the grand Ice Magic event takes place here. Artists and ice sculpture enthusiasts from around the world gather to create a magical fairy tale world.
The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise (additional cost for optional Afternoon Tea) sits by the lakeside, resembling a painting with snow-capped mountains and glacial lakes in harmony. Enjoy Snow Shoeing (free to borrow), stepping into the soft snow for an ice and snow adventure (subject to weather and lake freezing conditions).
- Moraine Lake - Located 14 km southeast of Lake Louise, Moraine Lake is a stunning turquoise lake surrounded by the Ten Peaks, waterfalls, and rock piles. The water’s color changes intensity throughout the summer. (This spot closes on Oct 14, with Yoho National Park’s Emerald Lake and Natural Bridge as alternative attractions).
- Lake Minnewanka - Just 15 minutes east of Banff, Lake Minnewanka is the largest and deepest glacial lake in Banff National Park, reaching a depth of 142 meters. Named by the Indian Stoneni family, it means “water spirit.” This beautiful aqua blue lake is surrounded by majestic mountain peaks and unique shoreline rocks.
