Cusco, Capital of the Inca Empire
Cusco - Upon arrival in Cusco, guests will be greeted at the airport and transferred to their hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy an exclusive city tour starting with a visit to the Plaza de San Cristóbal for a panoramic view of the city. Next, visit the San Pedro Market to experience local flavors and learn about regional products. Later, the Qorikancha Temple will impress with its splendor and magnificence, with walls that were once covered in gold. From San Blas, the artisans’ neighborhood, stroll down Hatun Rumiyoc Street to see the Inca Roca Palace, now the Archbishop’s Palace, and admire the famous Twelve Angled Stone. Archaeological Park of Sacsayhuaman
Sacsayhuaman - In the morning, escape the crowds to visit Sacsayhuaman, an impressive citadel with colossal constructions surrounded by beautiful landscapes in harmony with the environment. Afterwards, continue to the Inca sanctuary of Q’enqo, featuring a surprising altar for sacrifices embedded in its rocky formation. Finally, arrive at the Puca Pucará lookout and Tambomachay, a monument of notable architectural excellence considered a pillar of the Andean worldview. Enjoy a free afternoon to explore the city.
Inca Village of Chinchero, Terraces of Moray and the Inca Village of Ollantaytambo
Archaeological Park Ollantaytambo - Visit the most remarkable sites in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Depart towards the Village of Chinchero, the most typical and colorful in the Sacred Valley, known for its weaving women. Make a brief stop at a textile center to appreciate ancient Inca techniques for dyeing and spinning alpaca wool. After visiting the Inca plaza with its beautiful colonial church, continue to Moray, a stunning Inca archaeological site with concentric agricultural terraces that served as a lab to recreate microclimates. Enjoy lunch, then visit the last living village of the Incas, Ollantaytambo. Also, visit the Temple of the Ten Windows, the Bath of the Princess, and the Sun Temple. Capture postcard-perfect photos from the heights of Ollantaytambo to conclude this magical day in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Overnight stay in the area.
Machu Picchu, The Lost Citadel
Machu Picchu - The much-anticipated day to visit one of the 7 Wonders of the World. Board the train at Ollantaytambo station. Upon arrival at the Machu Picchu station, staff will assist with boarding the bus that ascends a winding road, offering spectacular views of the Urubamba River, which forms a deep canyon. The Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu, welcomes visitors with its incredible terraces, staircases, ceremonial sites, and urban areas. The entire place exudes energy. Enjoy lunch, then return by train and transfer to the hotel in Cusco. Overnight stay.
Route to the Andean Altiplano
Puno - Depart on a tourist bus to the city of Puno, a scenic route accompanied by the Vilcanota River and then to the Collao plateau, the Andean altiplano. The first stop is at the Church of the Apostle St. Peter in Andahuaylillas, known as “La Sixtina de América” (The Sistine Chapel of America). The walls and ceiling are adorned with 17th-century mural paintings. Continue to Racchi, Temple of the God Wiracocha, where the remains of columns and walls highlight the monumental size of this construction during Inca times. The journey reaches its highest point at La Raya at 4,800 m.a.s.l., where the waters of the Titicaca basin and the rivers flowing to the Amazon divide. Enjoy lunch, then visit the Site Museum of Pucara, the birthplace of the famous toritos de Pucará (Pucara little bulls). Arrive in Puno and transfer to the hotel.
The Titicaca Sacred Lake and its islands
Taquile Island - In the morning, board a motorboat to visit the Uros, a community that sought refuge in Lake Titicaca, fleeing various dominating cultures. This community continues to build their islands using ancient techniques and welcomes visitors to share their knowledge. The people make a living from tourism. Continue sailing to Taquile Island, where the community has preserved its traditions, clothing, and way of life. It is one of the few Quechua communities in a predominantly Aymara region, remaining untouched by modernity. They welcome visitors with music and dances. Enjoy lunch at a community restaurant, offering a simple yet nutritious meal. Afterwards, take a walk around the area to appreciate the beautiful view of Lake Titicaca. Return to the port of Puno and transfer to the hotel.
