Siem Reap Angkor International Airport - Your tour guide and driver will be waiting to welcome you and transfer you to Siem Reap city before heading to your hotel for check-in. They will provide you with more information about the city and the daily life of its residents. Upon arrival at the hotel, you will have free time for leisure. Overnight in Siem Reap.

Siem Reap - Hotel Accommodation options:

  • Royal Crown Hotel & Spa, a 3-star hotel or similar
  • Regency Angkor Hotel, a 4-star hotel or similar
  • Angkor Paradise Hotel, a 5-star hotel or similar

Day 2: Angkor Wat Sunrise and Explore Angkor Ancient City, B

Angkor Wat - Rise early at 04:30 AM to visit the breathtaking sunrise at Angkor Wat temple. After the sunrise, continue exploring the Angkor Wat complex, then return to the hotel for breakfast. Afterward, head back to explore the ancient city of Angkor, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Angkor Thom South Gate - The south gate of Angkor Thom is popular with visitors as it has been fully restored, with many of the heads still in place. The gate is on the main road from Angkor Wat into Angkor Thom.

Bayon Temple - Built nearly 100 years after Angkor Wat, the Bayon temple’s basic structure and earliest parts are not well known. Located at the center of a royal city, it likely served as a temple-mountain symbolizing Mount Meru. The temple was extended during its second phase of construction, and the Bayon of today belongs to the third and final phase of its art style. The temple is famous for its 200 large faces carved on 54 towers, believed to represent the bodhisattva Avalokitesvara and signify the omnipresence of the king.

Angkor Thom - The capital city of the Khmer Empire, Angkor Thom is a grand expression of Buddhist cosmology, representing ideas that only great painters would dare to portray.

Baphuon Temple - Baphuon stands on a rectangular sandstone base with five levels of approximately the same size. The first three levels are surrounded by sandstone galleries, and the temple features two libraries in the shape of a cross with four porches in the courtyard.

Phimeanakas - Situated near the center of the Royal Palace area, Phimeanakas was originally crowned with a golden pinnacle. Built of roughly hewn sandstone blocks, the temple has little decoration.

Terrace of the Elephants - The terrace features elephants ridden by servants and princes, moving quietly as if on a promenade. The steps are of even length, and the forest is impenetrable to all but the smallest creatures and the largest animals.

Terrace of the Leper King - This terrace, built during Jayavarman VII’s reign, is faced with dramatic bas-reliefs on both the interior and exterior. A second wall with similar bas-reliefs was discovered during clearing, believed to be evidence of later rites.

Ta Nei Temple - Located deep in the Cambodian jungle, Ta Nei is a small, obscure temple that offers a rewarding visit for adventurous travelers. Built in the late 12th century by King Jayavarman VII, the temple is dedicated to Buddhist principles.

Ta Prohm Temple - Known as the kingdom of the Trees, Ta Prohm has been left largely untouched by archaeologists. The temple is shrouded in dense jungle, with fig, banyan, and kapok trees spreading their roots over stones and intertwining branches forming a roof over the structures.

Siem Reap - Hotel Accommodation options:

  • Royal Crown Hotel & Spa, a 3-star hotel or similar
  • Regency Angkor Hotel, a 4-star hotel or similar
  • Angkor Paradise Hotel, a 5-star hotel or similar

Day 3: Discover Banteay Srei, Angkor Grand Circle with Sunset at Phnom Bakheng, B

Banteay Samre - One of the most complete complexes at Angkor, Banteay Samre has been restored using the method of anastomosis. The name Samre refers to an ethnic group of mountain people related to the Khmers.

Banteay Srei - Known as a ‘precious gem’ and a ‘jewel in Khmer art,’ Banteay Srei was originally called Isvarapura. Built by a Brahmin of royal descent, the temple features exquisite decoration using hard pink sandstone.

Preah Khan - Located 2 kilometers northeast of Angkor Thom, Preah Khan was built in the late 12th century by King Jayavarman VII and dedicated to his father. The Buddhist complex covers 56 hectares.

Neak Pean - A large square man-made pond surrounded by four smaller ponds, Neak Pean features a small circular island with a stepped base in the center. The central tower was dedicated to Avalokitesvara.

Ta Som - A small, quiet temple that has not been restored, Ta Som features fig trees growing over the entrance towers. The temple is a single tower monument surrounded by three enclosing walls.

Pre Rup - Known for its bold architectural design, Pre Rup is the last real temple mountain. The temple is believed to have funerary associations, with a large vat at the base of the east stairway possibly used for cremations.

Phnom Bakheng - A popular spot to witness the sunset, Phnom Bakheng offers a view of Angkor Wat temple in the middle of the jungle.

Siem Reap - Hotel Accommodation options:

  • Royal Crown Hotel & Spa, a 3-star hotel or similar
  • Regency Angkor Hotel, a 4-star hotel or similar
  • Angkor Paradise Hotel, a 5-star hotel or similar

Day 4: Departure from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh with Sightseeing, B

Spean Praptos - Also known as the Dragon Bridge, Spean Praptos is the oldest laterite bridge in Southeast Asia and worth a visit during your trip to Cambodia.

Skun Spider Sanctuary - The town of Skun hosts one of the most unusual markets in the world, famous for its fried spider snacks. Women carry large trays of fried and spiced spiders, some the size of a grown man’s palm.

Phnom Penh - Hotel Accommodation options:

  • King Grand Boutique Hotel, a 3-star hotel or similar
  • Sun & Moon Urban Hotel, a 4-star hotel or similar
  • Sun & Moon Riverside, a 5-star hotel or similar

Day 5: Explore Highlights of Phnom Penh, B

Royal Palace - One of Phnom Penh’s most iconic landmarks, the Royal Palace is the primary residence of the King of Cambodia. Visitors can explore the Throne Hall, Chan Chaya Pavilion, and the adjoining Silver Pagoda.

Silver Pagoda - Located next to the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda features handcrafted silver tiles covering the floor and houses the Emerald Buddha and a golden life-sized Buddha Maitreya adorned with diamonds.

Wat Phnom - Set on a 27m high hill, Wat Phnom is the only hill in town. The main entrance is via a grand eastern staircase guarded by lions and naga balustrades.

Independence Monument - Built in 1958 to memorialize Cambodia’s independence from France, the Independence Monument stands 37 meters tall and is the center of activity during national celebrations.

Wat Ounalom - One of Phnom Penh’s original monasteries, Wat Ounalom serves as the headquarters for one of Cambodia’s most revered Buddhist patriarchs and is a major tourist attraction.

Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum - A former secondary school used as Security Prison 21 by the Khmer Rouge, the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum chronicles the Cambodian genocide and is a somber reminder of the country’s history.

Choeung Ek Genocidal Center - Known as The Killing Fields, Choeung Ek is a former orchard and mass grave of victims of the Khmer Rouge. Today, it is a memorial marked by a Buddhist stupa filled with human skulls.

Central Market - A large market constructed in 1937, the Central Market features a unique Art Deco building and offers a dazzling display of goods, including jewels, electronics, and souvenirs.

Statue of King Father Norodom Sihanouk - The Norodom Sihanouk Memorial commemorates former King Norodom Sihanouk and features a 4.5-meter tall bronze statue housed under a 27-meter high stupa.

Stunning and amazing tour to make unique experience - Mr. Sara and Mr. Ry and a really good team. At the first moment at the airport we felt safe and warm welcome. The drive was always good, on point and always a clean car. We had always Fresh and cold water. More over many fresh towels during the trip. We spent a lot time with Mr. Sara, because he was our guide. :) I think he must be one of the best guides in cambodia. He has knowledge like a lexicon, smart and good humor. During our whole stay we became friends. We would recommend to everyone Mr. Sara as the guide and Mr. Ry as your driver. Thank you really much for this unforgettable memorys.

Highly highly recommend - Had an amazing time on this trip! Both our guides Pysedh and Thorn (+ the drivers) were all great, lots of interesting information and facts about all the places we visited, pointing out of details etc that we wouldn’t have otherwise noticed. The work that’s been put into the trips is very evident. Hotels were both very enjoyable, sights were all amazing, especially sunrise over Angkor wat. The whole itinerary ran very smoothly and we packed a lot in the few days of the tour. Water / cold towels / air con in the car after hours temple hopping in the sun is a much appreciated touch. I really couldn’t recommend this more and I really hope you get Pysedh / Thorn for Siem Reap / Phnom Penh as you’re in for a treat!!

The touring was good but hotel stays could have been better - Very good trip! The tour guide in Siem Reap was very good (Sarat) and the tour guide we had in Phnom Phen (Ou Bunthorn) was outstanding! We enjoyed Angor Wat and all the surrounding areas but really had a big learning experience with the Phnom Phen tour and seeing the Killing Fields and the Genocide Museum etc. Helped us to understand a very complex time in world history. My only complaints are that for the price we paid ($650 each) the hotel experience could have been improved. The hotel in Siem Reap was frequented by large tour groups and the food often ran out at breakfast (included). It was frustrating to feel as though we had to rush to get down to breakfast to beat the crowd. The hotel in Phnom Phen gave us a single bed when we had specifically asked for two beds and refused to move us until we contacted the tour operator. They were stubborn and not accomodating. The room was also tiny and not enough room for our luggage. We had to leave early for the airport and they refused to let us come eat a bit of breakfast early - packing us some inedible sandwiches instead. These hotels cost in the vicinity of US $50/night so I wonder if we could have done better.
