Private Tour Beng Mealea with Long - My wife and I took a private tour with Bayon Guides Feb 11 2019. It was fantastic! Our guide was Long, who really made the experience wonderful. This particular site was really a pleasure because it was unique, beautiful, and quieter and so well worth the trip. Even the drive out there gives you a chance to see a different side of things compared to Siem Reap, with much more countryside. The site itself was a beautiful example of nature reclaiming its land and the power it possesses. It's a large enough site and similar in structure to Angkor Wat, yet different. Long, our guide, was super-knowledgeable. He taught us an enormous amount in a short time, not just about the history of the site, but even much of the history of Cambodia and the current state of things regarding culture, tradition, international relations, some politics, and even food. We learned so much from him and it was quite clear that he loves what he does and loves his country. It's great to have such a friendly, funny, enthusiastic guide. Some of the facts: very comfortable, air-conditioned 4x4 SUV on our tour, site was 1 hour outside of our hotel in the center of Siem Reap, 4-4.5 hours tour total, good amount of walking but not difficult at all, overall much more comfortable because of abundant jungle around providing shade from trees and allowing for cool breezes compared to other archeological sites, free water and because it was private, driver allowed for stops.

A Short Journey With Long - Bang Mealea is an excellent compliment to the hustle and bustle of Angkor Wat. You will be far from the crowds at a magnificent temple grown in to the jungle. But perhaps even more interesting than the temple, is the drive through the countryside where you can catch a small glimpse at the way that Cambodians live outside the city. We just so happened to be treated to a private tour, as we were the only ones who booked for that day. Our guide Long, was able to give us great insights into history as well as the current events and social issues facing Cambodian society. When you visit the ruins around Siem Reap you will hear many classic Hindu stories told, but Long has a talent for making them memorable and relatable. I will always remember when we stopped off at a roadside cart for some roasted sticky rice.

Beng Mealea Private Tour Feb 22, 2020 - A good tour and quite interesting to see the temple in the jungle. Our private guide was good but the driver was driving as if he were on a forced march. Rush rush rush.
