Preah Dak - The village of Preah Dak, a short drive from Siem Reap town, is renowned across the country for its famous nom ban chok noodles. Thanks to a proactive district governor, it has also gained recognition as the pilot village for a ‘One Village, One Light Bulb’ initiative, where each of the 518 households has been provided with solar panels to generate electricity. Plans are in place to expand this scheme to other villages in the district. Preah Dak is also contributing by sorting rubbish and maintaining cleanliness. It has become a model village while retaining its authenticity and charm. It’s definitely worth a visit to experience typical village life, enjoy some noodles, and watch basket makers at work.
