- Preah Vihear Temple - Your tour begins with a rendezvous with your guide and chauffeur in the hotel lobby at 8 am. Proceed to Preah Vihear Temple, a venerable Hindu sanctuary erected during the Khmer Empire’s zenith, perched on a 525-meter high cliff on a mountain in the Preah Vihear province of Cambodia. After a protracted contention over dominion with Thailand, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) decreed in 1962 that the temple belongs to Cambodia. Offering expansive vistas over the surrounding terrain, Prasat Preah Vihear boasts the most dramatic location among all the temples constructed throughout the Khmer Empire’s six-hundred-year history. As an integral part of the empire’s religious framework, it received continuous enhancements and contributions from various monarchs, reflecting a fusion of different architectural styles. Distinct from other Khmer temples, Preah Vihear is designed on an elongated north-south trajectory, deviating from the typical eastward-oriented rectangular blueprint. On July 7, 2008, Preah Vihear was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
