Fantastic trip, very interesting and enjoyable - Great trip, really interesting and a chance to see a Cambodian fishing village. Our guide PON was fantastic, he was very knowledgeable and friendly with a good sense of humour, he got the balance right. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely experience - Really enjoyed this tour. We were taken by Tim tum to the floating village so saw some beautiful countryside. Spent time on a boat and relaxed In hammocks. The floating village itself was very interesting. Guide s d driver were excellent.

Not sure if this is the right tour but take one!!!! - I am not clear of which tour company got us here but it was through Asiatica tours. What a fabulous experience. We toured in a narrow boat down a long river through a fishing village on stilts and then onward out into Ton Le Sap Lake which is huge. It was one of the most magical experiences of my life. You travel past rice paddies and fisherman's houses, take an optional trip on another boat which [mostly] women paddle through swamps. This gives a good idea of how high the water goes in the rainy season and a sense of how people live here. The houses on stilts are amazing to see- very functional and pretty with planters etc. Some children were jumping off the balconies into the water and having a whale of a good time. As we returned the sun was setting and the birds were landing in their nesting places in the rice paddy areas. It was pure magic. Cant recommend this strongly enough... as I said to our tour giude, she would have a hard time topping this experience for me--- and that was the following day's trip to Angor Wat -- also incredible but very different. I adored Cambodia and the people I met there.

Tonie Sap Lake and Floating Village - We were able to see how the people live here, the tour guide speaks English well and had shown us how people here gets a murky water clear to be ready for boiling and drinking. Also included was visit to Lotus Garden

River Boat Cruise? - We were quite disappointed in this tour. We somehow expected to be on a big dinner boat as pictured in the brochure. Nope..a river taxi was the mode of transportation. The floating village was actually very interesting, however, but the stop at yet another tourist trap, was unnecessary. especially as the small boats came up to ours begging for money. The Queen Tara was just an old boat. Food was so-so. The all-you-can- drink drinks didn't make up for anything.

Poor value for money and a lot of wasted time sitting on big boat - After reading some reports on Tripadvisor about how Tara Boat Tours was superior to other floating village tours I booked a half daytour. When I booked the people at the travel agency in Siem Reap told me they were too expensive compared to the other floating village tours. They showed me ither companies that did tours for $15 per head while Tara was $27 per person but they did include lunch. I didn't listen to the locals as I read good things regarding Tara. How wrong was I! We were the only 2 on the tour. We were picked up in an old but adequate car, The guide and driver were fine,no complaints about them. We were then put into an old local river boat, with no ife jackets and toured aaround the ploating villages for a short amount of time, We stopped at a floating shop and saw some crocodile in a pen. We then went to the big boat were we spend more than an hour. We felt thiswas a complete waste of time. On the brochure and web site, they say all you can eat lunch or 3 couse meal. We just had to select from a list. Average food, just like you get in Pub Street for $2 a plate. Very disappointed. Waste of money and a waste of time.

SCAM SCAM SCAM - Read this - We learned about this company in the Lonely Planet book, and read the philantropic story about the tara boats on their website. Very nice story about restructuring sunk boats to organize visits based on fair rates. Actually this company is 100 % scam. We booked a tour for 5 persons. 26$ each. We took a boat to a main shop-boat very turistic and had a drink on another boat. The actual tour was 2x15 min. On our way back, we realized that the guide simply paid a ticket in the harbour for a boat for 5 people for 28$ that we could have bought ourselves. See fares displayed in the picture. We would have probably seen much more with this option. Conclusion: we were robbed by paying 5x the price! If you want to visit the floating village, just come to the harbour and buy you ticket there.

Not worth it. - I had high hopes for this tour but my reasons for 1 star as below 1) It isn't mentioned anywhere that it's about a 25min drive in a shuttle bus to the port, followed by 20mins on a small boat to the Tara boat (which is anchored and doesn't go anywhere) 2) The buffet - fried rice, fried vegies and a few other similar dishes. Very basic food and not very exciting or nice 3) The general vibe just felt off. The group that I joined for this tour felt the same about the whole experience. Save your $$.
