A glimpse of life on the lake - Our booking turned into a private tour for two when no one else booked, so it all aboard a tuk tuk with our guide, Tinh, for the trip out to Tonle Sap. Along the way, we stopped at a lotus farm, visited a local market and saw how local women were harvesting water hyacinth stems to weave into beautiful bags and baskets. Chugging through the floating villages and seeing how the lake sustains the villagers was fascinating The final highlight was our lunch stop. The beautiful 1929 ship Queen Tara, which we had all to ourselves while we enjoyed a basic but delicious meal. A great day out!

Great value for the money - unique experience! - It was a great private tour, just me and Mr Friday who was very nice! He grew up on the lake in a floating village so he had lots of information to share. We saw crocodiles and I even tried crocodile meat! The lunch was delicious. Great value for the money!

Excellent Tour and Tour Guide! - This tour was absolutely fascinating! Through our outstanding tour guide, Hong, we learned so much about the many uses of the lotus flower and the lives of those who live in the floating villages. It was also a great way to escape the heat of Cambodia as the boat ride was a very pleasant temperature. Hong was exceptional! He has vast knowledge of everything we saw, but at the same time doesn't feel the need to fill every moment with chit-chat, which we appreciated. He was very friendly, helpful, professional and all around wonderful! The lunch was surprisingly good and again, Hong allowed us privacy to eat on our own. I really can't find any fault with this tour and I highly recommend taking it. You have to see how these people live in the floating villages for yourself to appreciate it. Make sure you go with Hong!

Had a good day out - Great day out on the lake to see how the locals live in the area. Our guide Friday was lovely. Hotel pick up was punctual in an air conditioned van. We visited a lotus farm, a crocodile farm, had a leisurely lunch aboard the Tara before taking a short boat ride around the fringes of the floating village as we were not permitted to enter it. We weren't too fussed about that though, overall it was a good experience to get a feel for what life is like out there.

Floating village Chong Kneas - We had a 3 hours boat trip to floating village Ching Kneas in Tong Le Sap area arranged by Tara Boat Tour. There are lotus farm, village people, crocodile farm along the road. The most impressing part was to met up with kids in the village. Would recommend to bring some candies / tidbits with you to send to the children. They are quite shy and smiley. Tour guide is Poss Poun( Mr Friday) who is also a teacher in the school, a sincere and kind hearted big boy. I would recommend this trip if you do not have the whole day for it. Do meet the village people, you won’t regret.

Another exciting thing to do from Siem Reap - We really enjoyed the adventure of being taken from Babel Boutique hotel to some lotus fields and a fishing village where we boarded the river boat to be taken to Queen Tara, an old cargo vessel, for a sunset dinner. Our guide,Sophorn, was very friendly and informative. He even picked a lotus flower for me at my request. The buffet dinner and free drinks on board were great. Very romantic setting watching sun set over the floating village.

As advertised but wouldn't do again. - Although this trip was exactly as advertised, I wouldn't do it again. The tour guide, bus and boat drivers were excellent. The reason I wouldn't do it again is that I felt exploited by locals by having to spend so much time in their shop and the boarding of the company's sister ship to buy lunch/drinks. Neither were of interest to either me or the other traveler yet we spent 25/15 minutes in each. Wish I would have spent the time visiting more temples instead.

Human Zoo - Very expensive Sunset Tour, no explanation about the population living in the Floating village, when you try to ask the guide about the politics isssuesbof the people he avoid answering. Tara boat tour promote itself as a sustainable agency and giving help to the people over there but you have no clue of how they help them, no contact with local, at the end you feel like you are in a human zoo. It is a pity because it’s a missed opportunity to give a voice and help this people.
