Highlights
  • Gonville and Caius College - A brief introduction to the tour, plus a safety warning about bicycles.

  • St Bene’t’s Church (Church of England) - The oldest church in the county of Cambridgeshire, dating from the early 11th century. We will also visit the nearby Eagle Pub.

  • King’s College Chapel - This is the centrepiece of the tour. The most famous building in Cambridge and an architectural jewel. Not to be missed.

  • Senate House - The 18th century Senate House was until recently the main meeting place for the University. Today it is where the students receive their degrees. It forms part of an historic core, along with Great St Mary’s Church and Gonville and Caius College.

  • University of Cambridge - Please note that, with the exception of King’s College Chapel, the colleges close to the public during the examination period which runs from late April to mid-June every year. The dates of closures vary from college to college. In 2019 St. John’s College will be closed to groups from 14 May to 28 June and closed to the public from 16-28 June. Queens’ College will be closed from 22 April to 14 June.

  • Old dsCavendish Laboratory - See the buiding where 29 Nobel Prize winners worked and hear the story of the Cavendish from 1874-1974.

  • Eagle - One of the oldest pubs in Cambridge. Famous for its RAF Bar, where airmen wrote their squadron numbers on the ceiling during the Second World War.

  • Great St Mary’s Church (Church of England) - Great St Mary’s is a parish church and the University church. When students first arrived in Cambridge in the 13th century they used Great St Mary’s for their meetings and teaching.

  • Trinity College - See the famous great gate of Cambridge’s largest and wealthiest college. Hear about the 32 Nobel prize winners that have studied at Trinity, plus famous names such as Sir Isaac Newton and Lord Byron.

  • St. John’s College - St John’s was founded in 1505. The famous 16th century gatehouse is arguably the most striking in Cambridge and carries the coat of arms and regalia of the founder, Lady Margaret Beaufort.

  • The Round Church Visitor Centre - The Church of the Holy Sepulchre is generally known as “the Round church’, because of its shape. It was built around 1130, and is one of the few remaining Norman structures in Cambridge.

Great way to acclimate to Cambridge! - My husband and granddaughter thoroughly enjoyed! Our granddaughter had just spent two weeks with the Oxbridge Academy for high school students housed at Petershouse U. of Cambridge. So although she thought she knew Cambridge well; even she was surprised at many points along the tour!

Fascinating tour, highly recommended - Tony gave our group from The Commercial Property Network a fascinating, informative and fun two hour tour of Cambridge. It was a baking hot day and everyone had a hangover, but we hardly noticed for those two hours. Excellent tour, great guide. Highly recommended.

Lightning Tour of Cambridge - Tony Rodgers was On Time, Entertaining, Energetic, Enthralling, Enigmatic and Generally Enjoyable to spend a couple of days with. He knows his stuff, is not in a rush and introduced us to Mary Foster-Lewis who guided us around the Fitzwilliam Museum. Between the two of them they made our trip informative and fun and, should we return we would not hesitate to re-book with these clever people. Thanks Tony and Mary. Robert, Nicolette and Lucy.

South Alabama Biomedical Student Tour - Tony was an absolute expert. We were a science oriented group and he was completely on point…and delightful…and very funny. He helped us get settled in our lunch reservation and left us with maps and information on where we were eating.

Cambridge tour - Tony Rodger’s was great. Alumni, career faculty member and long standing rugby coach, Tony provided ann entertaining and informative tour and even altered the sites seen to accommodate our interests. A great way to indoctrinate our son to the University for His summer abroad program.

Cambridge - even more fascinating than I had thought! - I went with the U3AC group on 20th June and the whole tour was absolutely fascinating, and fun too as Tony is such a good raconteur. I learnt so much more about this wonderful city - thank you Tony (and I apologise for writing notes!) and look forward to joining you on another tour!

Not Too Much Information - A really enjoyable tour with a diverse group: Americans, Swiss, Australians, English. Tony Rogers was able to pitch his descriptions of each venue at exactly the right level. About the right length before fatigue set in.

Can’t ask for more from a guided tour! - Went with a group of 20 or so colleagues, and were split into two groups of 10, each assigned with excellent tour guides. I was on the team with Tony Rodgers, who really was the best tour guide you could ask for - encyclopedic knowledge of Cambridge history and a sharp wit to boot, keeping the experience very entertained. Beware - he will keep you on your toes with his pop quiz questions throughout the tour, so I recommend paying attention! 5 stars!

Walking through Cambridge with Tony - Tony Rodgers is a fantastic guide. He tells the (Hi)story of Cambridge as if it was a modern comedy, laughs and arched eyebrows in surprise every time a new piece of information came out of his mouth. Funny and very competent. We had a great time and can only give him the best rating. Thank you to the The Fellows House for arranging this wonderful walking tour of Cambridge.
