Highlights
  • Cammarata - The day takes place entirely in Cammarata and in San Giovanni Gemini which are known in the region as “the mountain of excellence”, precisely because they have an abundance of high-quality products and raw materials in the heart of Sicily. After a stroll through the historic centre, we will meet a chef of a typical Sicilian trattoria and together we visit the local market and do some shopping. Then we put on “u fadali” (the apron) and now we can roll up our sleeves and put our hands in the dough. An unforgettable experience for those who really want to know what the area in the Sicilian hinterland really offers. We’re not done with the day yet. Another sweet excellency awaits in the afternoon, we will discover it together.
  • Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista - In the afternoon, we will take a walk through the streets of San Giovanni Gemini, the renowned town in the Sicani mountains, full of shops, bars but much more, such as the church of San Giovanni Battista which houses the black Christ “Jesus Nazarè” and then “dulcis in fundo” let yourself be amazed.

This culinary journey is an oomph of flavor, unveiling top-tier products such as the award-winning ‘pecorino D.O.P.’ esteemed frequently as the finest in Sicily. Additionally, dairy products like mozzarella and ricotta stand out. Moreover, we’ll explore derivatives of flour (bread, biscuits, pasta) made from ancient grains (Tumminia, Russello, Perciasacchi). Olive oil, hailed as the ‘World’s Best extra virgin olive oil’, and wine from a local winery that’s been awarded in Brussels and chosen repeatedly as ‘the pope’s wine’, elevate this experience. Wrapping up the tour is the sampling of sheep and beef meat, followed by a visit to the local market where we’ll purchase the ingredients. Armed with “u fadali” (apron), we will get hands-on culinary experience with the chef.
