Magical storytelling, sight-seeing and bears - We really valued the Indigenous cultural component of the tour-especially a visit to Church House where one of the guides, Ronnie, talked about his experience being a young boy there. Janet and other guides shared natural history information and Indigenous creation stories about a time when animals could talk to people. We also had time to learn how to make our own cedar bracelets, and Janet sang a number of beautiful songs with her drum accompaniment. These Indigenous experiences were interwoven with incredible views of the scenery, including lots of ocean birds, eagles, harbor seals, stellar sea lions and--grizzly bears! The whole day was a memorable, wonderful adventure for us. Many thanks (Emote) to the tour crew! Maura and Russ, Qualicum Beach, BC

One of the best experience we have ever had! - The tour was amazing, we had lots of fun and saw many animals, such as whales, sea lions, birds, eagles and grizzlies bears. The team was fantastic, including Ron, Janet, Kelvin… and we learned a lot about Homalco cultures by making bracelets, listening to stories and songs. We loved it, I:mote 🙏❤️

Great experience - Friendly crew, comfortably journey, lunch was great, Chyanne gave us a lot of interesting information about her culture as well about the grizzlies. She spoke well pronounced. It was great to see several grizzlies in their natural environment. It is so nice that we had a group of only 12 persons. Keep it small, that is the strength of this tour!!. We saw on our way back some whales, which was also great! Our captain Brendon was also sympathetic!

Fantastic way to see bears in their own environment. - Can't recommend this tour enough. The staff were very friendly, extremely knowledgeable & passionate about the bears & their indigenous culture. We had a great day and got to see bears catching salmon along the river including a mother bear & cub.

A real privilege to get so close to grizzlies in their natural habitat - Fantastic from start to finish. A two-hour boat trip through glorious scenery; then at Bute Inlet we were greeted by indigenous guides, who gave us a real insight into their history and culture as well as taking us to watch nine different grizzlies fishing in the inlet and getting on with their lives. Only 12 people on the tour, and the boat had 12 seats outside and 12 inside, so there was no squabbling over position and no problem if it got cold. A bucket list item ticked off with great enthusiasm. Thank you, Ron, Kalvin and Wilson.

Bear and whale watching Campbell River - We did 4 trips with Hamalco. 2 Bear trips and 2 whale watching trips. All excellent. Very successful trips with lots of bears seen safely up close and 6 orca, and 2 hump back whale breeches. They are the company to travel with. Very friendly first nation locals with lots of knowledge and experience. The money goes towards the first nation community. Thanks very much.

What a brilliant day - seeing grizzlies in their natural habitat - What a brilliant day - we saw 8 grizzlies and 3 humpbacks (on the way back across Georgia Strait). It was one of our best days ever, seeing wild bears catching the salmon in the rivers. Janet - our enthusiastic guide ensured we travelled safely and kept us well informed along the way. Kelvin - our Bute-based guide got us really close to the bears and gave us some great insight into the Homalco nation and traditions. Guy - our expert ferry captain knew his stuff too! We can't recommend this trip from Campbell River highly enough ... 100% 🙂🙂

Sealions, whales and Bears - It was absolutely amazing. Seeing Sealions and humpback whales on the way. The tour was amazing, seeing bears so close up. On the tour we were able to see about 7 bears and a cub. Following the tour we were provided with a delicious chicken/ham/beef or veg salad sandwhich and cookie. On the way back we saw orcas and more humpback whales. If you asked me to go back, I definitely would. 10/10
