A breathtaking experience! - From the excellent safety briefing before we left the dock, to the very well-informed information about marine life and their conservation, we knew that we were in safe hands with Cassie and Guy from Homalco. This was a fabulous trip in wonderful weather. We were extremely lucky. Early on we followed the water spout and tail of a diving humpback whale and then a pod of orcas. But the most amazing experience was when Guy steered us away from more crowded waters and this paid off with the breathtaking sight of a mother and calf humpback whale breaching around 8 times. Great respect was shown to the whales at all times and Cassie even slowed down shipping in the area to safeguard the whales. We found the whole trip to be very informative and we were especially interested to learn about the history, culture and experiences of the First Nations around Campbell River. Thank you to Cassie and Guy for our amazing trip and to all at Homalco for efficient administration of our booking.

A dream came true! - The tour with Guy and Kathy was simply breathtaking. So many exciting and moving stories about the life of the Homalco First Nations, so many respectful encounters with different animals of the sea. We will treasure these memories forever. We set off in the morning on the Homalco Tours boat. Kathy and Guy were our tour guides. Shortly after leaving the harbor, we had our first surprise: a blowout on the horizon. And then again straight away. Shortly afterwards, the tail fin became visible and it became clear that this was the first humpback whale of the day. We followed it at an appropriate distance. A majestic experience that brought tears to my eyes. Guy then turned the boat to starboard and we spotted the next highlight: a school of orcas, consisting of 5 or 6 animals, ploughing swiftly through the water. We followed them very slowly again, keeping our distance and warning the approaching boats. We left the orcas in peace and drove a little further on, suddenly breathing fountains appeared in front of us - two of them. A mother humpback whale and her calf. After a short time, the whales started to jump out of the water. We can hardly put into words how impressed we were by this sight. Thank you so much for making a dream come true!

Incredible day whale watching - I can’t say enough about this fabulous whale watching tour. There were 4 of us in our group and we had a memorable time out on the water. John was our captain and Janet our guide and they made the trip fun and informative. We saw whales galore with at least 10 breaches. The scenery was incredible and we were lucky to have excellent weather. Thanks for a wonderful afternoon. We all recommend this tour !

Amazing experience - This is a company I would not hesitate to use again and have full confidence in recommending them to anyone considering going on a wildlife tour in Campbell river. We went on 2 tours with them 1. Whale watching 2. Bear watching Both of these were incredible experiences. Firstly only 12 people are allowed on the boat which is very well equipped with indoor and outdoor seating (plus a toilet!). We cruised down the river and were given information about the orcas and then spotted these amazing creatures slapping their fins and breaching out of the water. What a moment! Guidelines permitted the boat to keep a distance from the whales and time was also limited which from an ethical point of view I found really pleasing as I don't want to see these magnificent creatures hounded and pursued by boats. We kept seeing the whales and humpbacks and the captain of the boat ensured we had as many opportunities as possible to see them whenever he spotted them. Janet and skipper Steve kept us entertained and informed the whole way about how they distinguished the various orcas by some of their distinctive fin markings. Absolutely incredible experience. Bear watching - (again only 12 people allowed on the tour) another wow lead by Al who was skipper and information expert. It took us approximately 2 hours to get to our destination but the scenery en route was beautiful and the waters very calm indeed. As soon as we arrived lunch was served and it was very tasty with a choice of deep filled sandwiches plus tea and coffee. Al also shared a lot of history about his native upbringing and how so much land was taken away from the people - it was distressing to hear about the hardships but it needs to be shared as these people have had so few rights in a country that bog to them. It was thought provoking and everyone in the group was deeply touched by the struggle and deprivation generations faced. We were met and escorted by Anthony and James (I think)) but Al still accompanied us. Safety was paramount and this was strictly gone through. A bus drove us to the likeliest places to spot the bears. We were fortunate enough to see a couple of jumping salmon whilst patiently waiting for the bears.....spotted a large grizzly in the distance which was brilliant and about an hour later were rewarded with a mother and cub swimming across the river and about 10metres away from us. What a moment! Totally spellbinding and nobody moved a muscle as we were enthralled to witness this very special bonding. They gradually moved away from us but the guides were very vigilant in keeping us safe and protected at all times. Another brilliant tour from Homalco.

Salish Sea Whale Watching Tour - We enjoyed the Salish Sea Whale Watching Tour. The boat was very comfortable, and we saw humpback whales, sea lions, seals, and birds. Our skipper Paul and guide Cassie were very respectful of the animals. Cassie is very passionate about the Homalco First Nation culture and loves passing on her knowledge. She's a great story teller! Paul is entertaining and took us on a wonderful tour around the islands. The elusive orcas didn't show up that day which is out of anyone's control. I guess it gives us a reason to come back for another tour one day!

Unforgettable Whale Watching Experience with Homalco Tours! - I had the absolute pleasure of joining a Homalco Whale Watching Tour last week, and it was an experience I'll cherish forever. From start to finish, the tour was nothing short of spectacular. Our guide, Debra, was incredibly engaging, knowledgeable, and passionate about the marine life we encountered. She made the tour not only informative but also truly captivating with her wealth of knowledge and infectious enthusiasm. Captain Brendan was equally fantastic—super friendly, fun, and always ready with a smile. His expertise on the water, combined with his lively personality, made the journey feel both safe and exhilarating. He navigated us through the stunning scenery with ease, ensuring we had the best possible views of the magnificent wildlife. The highlight, of course, was the wildlife itself. We were fortunate enough to witness orcas, humpback whales, sea lions, and a dazzling array of sea birds. Each sighting was more thrilling than the last, and it was clear that both Debra and Brendan were just as excited as we were, sharing in our awe and delight. Homalco Tours exceeded all my expectations, providing not just a tour, but a truly unforgettable adventure. If you're looking for an extraordinary way to connect with nature and experience the wonders of marine wildlife, I can't recommend them highly enough. A big thank you to Debra, Brendan, and the entire Homalco team for making this such a memorable experience!
