Amazing Educational Experience to Start the Learning Process for a New School Year! - Our school staff went on this tour as the start of our school year professional development. We booked two 12 person tours (morning and afternoon) and everyone loved their time. Our tour guide and boat pilot (Cassie and Ron) were friendly, knowledgeable and very accommodating. As educators, we are always looking for ways we can gain a better cultural understanding of some of the families we work with. This tour provided that for us and we hope that we can take what we have experienced and provide that back to children to help them grow up with a stronger sense of culture and purpose. Would recommend it to anyone wanting to experience the history of the Homalco people. Spotting all the wildlife of whales, eagles, sea lions, seals and the occasional porpoise was an absolute bonus. This truly is a beautiful area that can hold a candle to any other destination on this planet.

A Beautiful at Church House - Almost as if it was showing us the way, our trip began following an eagle through Seymour Narrows. We got to Church House, a gathered on the beach where Janet told us some of the history of the Homalco people. She is extremely knowledgeable identifying plants and trees, their medicinal properties and practical uses. She told stories, drummed and sang while we wove cedar bracelets at a beautiful look-out spot. On the way back, Kelsie not only found us a humpback whale to view, but also a pod of orcas which satisfied the guests on the boat.
What a great day it was.
I highly recommend it, and definitely plan to go again in the future.

Life changing tour: Water, land and people, lovely people - What an incredible experience and a must-do for anyone who wants to discover not only the power of nature but also delve into the history of Canada and the Indigenous people. Wow, what an experience. Because a few other people didn't show up, we had the tour just for the two of us, which made it even more special.
We truly got to feel the passion of sailing, fished seaweed out of the water, and felt it. We spotted various birds and sea lions along the way. Once we arrived at Church House, the spirit of the past overwhelmed us. The history here is profoundly impressive; the impact of colonization is palpable, yet so is the strength of the people and their spirit that still prevails. Although the land is abandoned, you can feel the hope and love the tribe has for this piece of land.
The history here tells a story of the people's passion, their mindful way of living, their resilience after surviving colonization, and the importance of embracing one's language and culture. It was a privilege to experience this so deeply. I'll spare you the harrowing stories of what happened to the women, but when Janet, a 'warrior woman,' sang in her own language, I felt everything I described before, and my eyes couldn't hold back the tears.
For anyone interested in wildlife spotting and truly understanding the history of the Indigenous people, I highly recommend booking this tour. For me, it was a life-changing experience.

Best tour - Highly recommend this team - I have been in Kanada, BC for three weeks now and done severall tours. My tour with this team was the best of all.
As I was the only person booked on this tour and the minimum number of people was not met, I was contacked and asked if I would like to take another tour. Holly did a great job by facilitating everthing for me and I was smoothly trandferred to the Spring Bear Tour (I hope thats the correct title).
The tour was exeptional and Jennet and Ron did an amazing job explaining the area, the culture arounf the differend sites and animals and pointed to the different animals on land and in the water. We saw eagles, dolphins, several bears....and a wunderfull landscape.
As the groups are small, it is easy to connect and to talk with the others easily during the tour and creates a nice atmosphere. I appreciate this highly!!!
Best wishes from Germany,
Katharina

A wonderful and unforgettable experience - The People Water Land tour was a humbling and deeply moving experience. Our guides, Janet and Ron, shared some of their Homalco nation’s history and culture with such grace and generosity. It was a real honour to be invited to Aupe. To hear it’s story through Janet and Ron has given me a much needed insight into the history of this area. We can’t wait to come back again and learn more. The trip includes a nature and whale watching experience along the way, and the most beautiful landscape. i:mote to everyone at Homalco Tours.
