- Paroquia Nossa Senhora do Brasil - Highly sought after by couples looking to celebrate their wedding, the “Parish of the Saint of Brazil” is one of the most famous in São Paulo’s capital. With sophisticated decor and Neo-baroque architecture, the church was built in 1940 and has become a landmark of the city. The location is named after Nossa Senhora do Brasil ( The saint of Brazil) due to the image of the saint on its main altar. Situated in Jardim América, one of the most upscale neighborhoods in São Paulo, the construction’s highlight is a set of tiles forming a representation of the Stations of the Cross. The immense colorful stained glass windows and ceiling panels within the structure depict images from the Sistine Chapel, adding to the enchanting view.
- Paulista Avenue - Paulista Avenue is a symbol of the city of São Paulo and in addition to its business vocation and the famous cycle lane, it stands out as one of its main cultural landmarks. Theaters, cinemas, museums, cultural and shopping centers are always bustling, as well as craft fairs and street artists’ performances.
- Museu de Arte de Sao Paulo Assis Chateaubriand - MASP - The historic building of the São Paulo Museum of Art, a rectangular structure made of glass and concrete supported by red columns, dominates the heart of the capital, Paulista Avenue, in front of Trianon Park. Designed by the contemporary architect Lina Bo Bardi, MASP houses the most important artworks from Brazil and all of South America.
- Batman Alley - Along the alleys of Vila Madalena neighborhood, you’ll find an open-air graffiti gallery known as Batman Alley. With narrow streets, visiting the area can be more enjoyable on foot. Its history began in the 1980s when a drawing of the comic book character Batman was found on the neighborhood walls. This event attracted fine arts students who started creating drawings with cubist and psychedelic influences on the walls of the alley, forming a gallery of completely covered walls.
- Centro - The Historic Center of São Paulo is a neighborhood in the Central Zone of São Paulo. It corresponds to the region where the city was founded on January 25, 1554, by Jesuit priests. The neoclassical building with a touch of Gothic style impresses with the beauty of its 55 stained glass windows, which depict various aspects of food production.In addition to its historical significance, the “Mercadão” also holds great importance in the traditional gastronomy of São Paulo, offering a wide variety of snacks, appetizers, fruits, and more.
- Museum of Contemporary Art - MAC USP Ibirapuera - The Museum of Contemporary Art, University of São Paulo is located in Ibirapuera Park. It is one of the largest art museums in the country. The museum houses one of the largest and most comprehensive collections of 20th-century Western art in Latin America, with more than 8,000 works, comprising the most important artists, art movements, and tendencies of modern and contemporary art. Enjoy the café on the second floor, the restaurant, the bar on the terrace and the marvelous panoramic view on the 8th floor.
- Parque Ibirapuera - Ibirapuera Park is one of the main leisure areas in the city. Built to celebrate the 400th anniversary of São Paulo, the Ibirapuera area transformed from a large marshy land into one of the most popular spaces in São Paulo. With over 1.6 km² of space, the park offers various attractions and draws a diverse and loyal crowd. Most visitors come to Ibirapuera for weekend activities. The park hosts numerous events such as exhibitions, fairs, and concerts that attract thousands of visitors. Recreational areas like playgrounds, a skate park, and the three interconnected lakes are always bustling. Ibirapuera Park is filled with spaces dedicated to culture. The main ones include: MAM (Modern Art Museum), Afro Brazil Museum, Oca (Oval Contemporary Art), Ibirapuera Auditorium, Bienal Foundation, Pavilion of Brazilian Cultures, Japanese Pavilion, and the Planetarium (closed for renovations). Great way to see São Paulo Highlights - Great way to maximize time during a layover in São Paulo. My guide was Mauro and he was great. I felt like I was his guest as hosted me for the day. Highly recommend the tour!
