Two Countries in One Day - Campos do Jordao is a trip to the Dutch area of Europe while still in Brasil. Nicely appointed German style buildings and atmosphere takes you to another dimension of the world and yet not having to fly there to experience it.

Amazing Nelio!! - My review is long so, in short, the AroundSP company is very professional and Nelio is amazing! Long story- I did the day trip to Campos do Jordao with Nelio. He was amazing and very professional. He began the tour by picking me up at the hotel- he was early, which is always nice. The front desk called, and I went right down. He immediately began by asking me what I wanted to do at Campos do Jordao. He changes the tour based upon YOUR interests, so if you want to go to somewhere, or don’t want to go somewhere, he is flexible. His goal was clear- to make sure that I had a great experience. And he was successful! During the drive, we drove through fog - Nelio told me that this was fog from Antarctica how cool (forgive the pun) is that?! He was knowledgeable about many different things about Brazil and about Campos do Jordao. In fact, he even took me to the governor’s palace where the tour is ONLY in Portuguese - but he provided a summary translation just for me in English. I felt like I was really able to enjoy everything as a result. Campos do Jordao has a winter festival, and this caused the microbrewery to be closed, this was fine with me but I really wanted to try the beer. Nelio made this a mission! Really, he wanted everything to be perfect. The beer was amazing. Additionally, I ask a lot of questions, and he knew something for every single question. This tour has a fair amount of driving, and he was a great conversationalist! He also was willing to take my picture everywhere! If you want photos, he is fantastic! There was a lot that I wanted to see and do, and actually, the tour was supposed to be only 9 hours, but Nelio made sure that I got to see and do EVERYTHING that I wanted. He said that he didn’t want me to go home having any regrets about the trip, and genuinely, meant this. Many guides would rush because of the traffic or because the tour is 9 hours or what not. He did not do this — instead the tour went long, because there was a lot I wanted to see. He did not complain at all, and was just happy that I had a good time. One slight recommendation for this tour - make sure dress in layers as the weather may shock you! It is said to be very cold and all my coworkers in the US told me to prepare to be cold, but actually, today when I went it was hot! Haha! Also if you want a cool souvenir - I recommend the chocolate from the chocolate factory (pictured) - this chocolate is in the shape of the gate you go through to get to the city. In sum, I really am grateful to AroundSP for this trip. I had an amazing time and Nelio was really, really wonderful!
