Floating market - The floating market was good to see. A real experience. The islands were special due to the fruit and coconut sweets. Our guide was a very nice guy, whom liked a joke.

A full day of adventure - We were picked up from our hotel very early, given a bottle of water and had a chat about what to expect today. Very comfortable bus ride (it did have usb charging facilities in the bus) I would suggest having a bite to eat before you leave just to tie you over until you get to the market. About a 3 hr bus ride to the river and the onto the boat. We were lucky enough to get to the floating noodle stall before we closed, this was breakfast. This was extremely tasty and worth the stop. We went to a noodle factory and got to make noodles / coconut candy factory to see how these were made/ a couple of our group tried the snake wine / and we all tried the chocolate / our lunch was exceptional. Everyone is very friendly and wants you to have a lovely experience. This is a great day! Very long I don’t know that I would take young children on this trip as it is a long day. Overall I would recommend doing this. Thank you Bao

A day in the Mekong with Jackie Hieu. - We spent a full and fun day with Jackie Hieu. He is an expert guide who showed us the area and took care of assisting us even with requests unrelated to what was agreed upon. We visited the floating market and the local market, as well as a noodle factory. For us, both markets were incredible, highly recommended for the vision you gain of the area. Later we sailed along the Mekong and were in more touristy places where we purchased honey products before going to Coconut Island, also highly recommended. An unforgettable day.

Our Experience - You wake up at 5am and they pick you up in a luxury van which is quite nice as you’ve got a lot of driving ahead of you. However the floating markets these days seem to be quite small after Covid as our tour guide had explained. I wouldn’t say it’s an “attraction” worth selling. We were told we’d be put on a canoe for 45 mins to go through the Mekong river, this ended up being approx 10-15min after our lady rowing us through turned on the engine and we sped through super quick. Of course to expect a tip after. We had not brought much cash with us on that day and everything they show you and experience, tips are expected after. You get to visit a local village in where a group perform a song and dance for you. Tips expected after. And then visit some quiet local shops around where they make different items such as candy & honey. It did feel as if we were trying to be convinced to buy something but we had not brought much cash with us that day as we hadn’t expected to need any considering the price we’d paid for the tour. Being a full day tour we ended up back at our accomodation around 2-3pm as the driver and tour guide did not want to deal with the traffic. It felt as if they had also expected a substantial tip for being out with us the whole day but we had run out of money by then. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this unless you’re super keen to experience the local lives of these people. There are probably better tours and experiences to do in Ho Chi Minh.
