A tour you don't want to miss! - My wife and I were visiting Cape Breton, Nova Scotia for the first time. We had arranged for the tour before we left our home in Maine. The tour was supposed to begin at 8AM in Sydney. We were staying at an inn on the Cabot Trail, about an hour and a half drive from there, which would have made for a VERY early start for us. When my wife inquired whether we could be picked up at our inn, we were told yes, we would be picked up at 11. This really made the tour doable for us, and we were thrilled.
On the morning of the tour, we were a little anxious that we might have misinterpreted the agreement for the time of pickup (it seemed a little too good to be true!). But, true to their word, our tour guide, Arrie, arrived at the prescribed time. Although the tour was for four people, there was only my wife and me.
For eight hours, Arrie made Cape Breton come alive. Interwoven with some history of the area, he made sure we saw some of the island's most amazing sights, and there were SO many! Along with the places he had planned, he encouraged us to let him know anytime we wanted to stop to take a longer look or take pictures.
Midway through the tour, Arrie asked where we might want to have lunch. He asked what kind of food we enjoyed, and then he recommended the Rusty Anchor. The atmosphere was lively and the food was excellent!
Arrie also pointed out other restaurants and places of interest we might enjoy during our stay on Cape Breton. These included the Main Street Restaurant and the Alexander Graham Bell Museum. His recommendations added to our enjoyment of the island beyond the tour itself.
At the end of the day, we could not have asked for a more enchanting experience. Arrie was knowledgeable, engaging, and personable. We could not have had a more remarkable day nor a more remarkable guide.

Excellent experience - JD was an excellent tour guide for our Cabot Trail tour. Was only steps away from our cruise ship. Very nice and accommodating guide! Would definitely book another tour with them.

Cabot trail full day from Sydney NS - I had a marvelous experience going with JD, from Viator. He picked me up from Hearthstone Inn in Sydney at 8:30 AM, as scheduled. I found JD to be a very pleasant driver and a tour guide. All through the Cabot Trail, he stopped at the right places to enjoy the 'look off' points to see the Atlantic ocean and colorful hills along the way of the trail. Overall Cabot Trail travelling experience is one of my pleasant and life time memories.
Thank you Viator for facilitating me to see Cabot trail and to enjoy it in full on
the 11th October 2024.

Cabot Trail essentials - We have a nice trip with our driver Hamreet. Hamreet gave informative details on many occasions, being related to historic facts, cultural and local facts. This tour will give you a good view of the essential points of view of the east coast of Cabot trail.

Amazing views on the Cabot Trail - We had a great time, Sahil was very social and flexible in the tour. He drove us to a beautiful hike of the Cabot trail - a less visited and thus less populated one, the views were amazing! I would highly recommend!

A wonderful day in Novia Scotia - Manjeet was AMAZING. My husband, mother, and I went on a great tour after being picked up from the Royal Caribbean cruise. We stopped at a lot of beautiful areas to see the views and take pictures. We stopped at a great little spot to grab a coffee and moose head pics!! Then we went to the Gondola and spent time there and it was great views. Manjeet was easy to talk to and a great addition to our group. We then went to the Keltic Lodge and then to the pristine beach! beautiful rocks. I will be back and I would love to do this all over! I highly suggest you go and just enjoy every minute. Thank you Manjeet. Hope I meet mom!

Waste of money due to time of year mainly but also due to tour guide provided. - This tour really should not be offered this late in the season for several reasons. One being at this point all the foliage has already dropped and everything looks dead. Obviously that would not be the case every year but doing it this late most likely you would see very little. More importantly, EVERY place along the way was closed. We could not find a place to eat anywhere. Finally found a road side perminant stand that offered sandwiches. However you had to eat outside or in your car. Third issue was finding a bathroom was almost impossible since again everything had closed for the season. We finally found an inn that was technically closed but they were inside covering all the furniture so we were able to use the background.
Then more specific to our tour was our “taxi” guide. Yes he was not a tour guide on this trip but a taxi driver. While he was polite he had only lived in this area for 2 years which might not be an issue for a person that was interested in doing this job but our driver was going to school for engineering and had very little knowledge about this area at all. This is a lot to pay for a private all day tour. And if he was into his job he would have been prepared for the tour. He would have known that everything was closed already for the season. He would have suggested we bring lunch along. Given us a heads up we might not find a bathroom stop etc. He would have brought water and snacks etc. We were picked up at 8:30am and it was late afternoon before we found a bathroom stop or the sandwich shack on the side of the road. Thank goodness we did find those because there were no other options had we passed on those.

A complete debacle - We prepaid the Cabot trail tour and despite confirming the pick up time the day before no one came to collect us. Calls to the local provider Sydney and Cape Breton Taxi Tours went to voicemail and were never answered. Trying to contact Via Tours was an exercise in utter futility Press one, press two, press one, sorry disconnected. The next day we drove an hour to Sydney to try and find the tour operator. Eventually came across a group of men near a cruise ship and they acknowledged that they worked for the company. We had to wait under a tree for over an hour whilst one of them tried to contact their boss in Scotland. They agreed it was their error and finally said the money would be refunded. We are waiting for the evidence.
