Great Until I heard the Price - First off the group who drove us and our tour guide were fantastic, worth five points on their own. As for the underground cenote it was as beautiful as it looks. Here’s the negative, what they don’t tell you is you can’t bring in your phone even if you have it in a case that won’t fall to bottom of cenote. Instead they force you to leave your phone behind and take pictures inside the cenote, well here’s the kicker if you want those photos/memories they will charge you $70 USD. that it outrageous and disgusting. Not only did I pay over $160 USD for the experience but now you want to force me to pay you $70 for something that should be included. Not worth it, there’s other cenotes that allow you to use your phone for photos with no charge, you take the risk of dropping it that’s on you. Or atleast allow the folks who have those safe phone cases that float to mitigate any issues. Oh and when I say pay $70 bucks they ain’t printed anything out they are simple sending you the copies. LAME!!! The rest of the tour was great but I truely disliked having to find out how greedy the cenote company is.

Once in a Life Time Dream Vacay - The main purpose of my trip was to see Chichen Itza. It was a fantastic dual-language tour through the ruins which started with the smaller section and ended with the larger structure. The tour guide Abel was very knowledgeable and during the bus ride was showing us pictures and building up information about precious artefacts and obstacles faced by the Mayan people. The town for lunch was cute and the lunch itself was delicious. We went to the cenote afterward and it was one of the craziest, most breathtaking things I have ever seen with my own two eyes. We stopped afterward in a colonial town, which was only sullied by the fact that two of our busmates were late. Besides the extreme positives of the trip and the once in a lifetime places, I do have some cautions. The tour guide encouraged us to not purchase anything at the vendors at Chichen Itza, but to wait to purchase things at the town during our lunch. It was an enclosed area with a traditional Mayan dance and then a very expensive giftshop. We were told on the bus that the money from that giftshop goes directly to the town and that Mexico has been plagued with fake items from China. Also that local families that need money are being swindled by vendors in tourist areas and major cities. While that may be true, the items in the giftshop were extremely expensive and were clearly placed there as a tourist trap. Workers would follow you and try to get you to purchase expensive items. Even the tour guide Abel came up to me to show me how certain gemstones shined. I did end up purchasing one or two things but not the higher ticket items that they were probably expecting me to. One of the other things that we were encouraged to purchase on the bus was an astrological Mayan calendar with our birthday and instructions on how to use it. It was printed from a printer clearly running out of ink and was rather expensive for what it was. Do I truly regret anything I purchased on the trip? No. Simply because I went into it acknowledging the fact that this was somewhat of a tourist trap. In writing this, I just want people to also realize that they will be put into situations such as these and, if you are having difficulties as is walking through the streets of Cancun or other similar cities, this may add more annoyance to your vacation.

Great tour, disappointing travel - Mario was very informative, excellent tour guide, Oscar was a safe driver. Enjoyed the Chichen Itza. The cenote was enjoyable as well. I did not realize how much time we would spend at the Mayan village for lunch. It was not on the tour description. I appreciate seeing the village but it’s basically to get tourist to buy stuff and leave tips. Van was clean and new but way too small for any adults sitting in the back row. Extremely uncomfortable to sit in the back row for 3hrs at a time. Not sure what would happen if someone happened to be overweight, elderly or has problems with their knees/hips. There is also only a small window in the back to look out so very disappointing that we were not able to see the sites during the long drive . It was a long day, 12 hours but expected with that distance. This tour was an easy way to see a wonder of the world.!

Good if Spanish speaker but long day! - Was a good day but we spent way too long at the Mayan lunch and gift shop place. They put the hard sell on you and it’s not necessary; the day could end much quicker if that wasn’t involved. We went from Chichen Itza to the Mayan place, which is past the cenote you visit, so you backtrack a lot. Maybe better if they pick a cenote on the way to Valladolid instead of going past Ik Kil for lunch, then driving back, to then drive to Valladolid. We were all over it by the time we got to Valladolid and 30 mins to explore was wasted since we were so beat from the first part of the tour where it’s so hot and a lot of walking. We also had a guide who was bilingual which is awesome but it’s hard to follow when there’s a sentence in Spanish and the next in English. Maybe would be better if the whole segment was in one language, then the next. We honestly have no idea what he was saying half the time and have no idea still what the City of Chichen Itza is about lol. Great management from the tour company rep on the ground, Olga, who was proactive in confirming our reservation.
