Stunning experience in Las Coloradas! - We had an amazing time on this tour! The drive was long but totally worth it. The salt flats were stunning, with colors that took our breath away. The boat ride was a highlight, and our boat driver was pretty skillful spotting wildlife. The meal offered was delicious, with both chicken and fish options. I was pleasantly surprised by how fun the crocodile farm visit was. Carlos was an excellent guide, and Israel ensured a smooth ride throughout. Highly recommended!

A Day to Remember at Las Coloradas and Mangroves! - We had a fantastic time on our tour! Our guide Carlos shared fun historical tidbits and stories that made the trip even more enjoyable. At Las Coloradas, the guide added humor to the experience, making it truly special. In the mangrove swamp, the guide impressed us with deep knowledge, patiently explaining things that caught our interest along the way. We loved that there was no rush, just a relaxing day exploring. They even turned the boat around to help a fellow traveler retrieve his cap! The whole trip was amazing, from the delicious food to the smooth transport and all the incredible wildlife. This was definitely one of our favorite excursions!

A dreamlike experience! - We were planning to visit Las Coloradas since we read a lot good things about the place, its people and its surroundings. Our first idea was to rent a car and do the trip, but after doing some math, plan A ended up to being way more expensive than going on a tour. So we booked with Tourballoon and is fair to say that, attention, price, food, locations and above all, Miguel our guide, these ingredients made our day memorable. We totally recommend it. It's something you haven't experienced before!

Magic of Yucatan Unleashed! - As first-timers from San Francisco, USA, we were blown away by the beauty of Yucatan on Las Coloradas and Rio Lagartos Tour. Our guide Carlos and driver Isidro, made this adventure possible and special to us. The boat ride was unforgettable, offering stunning views of nature that we rarely experience back home. The pink waters of Las Coloradas were like nothing we'd ever seen, and the interaction with the local wildlife was a highlight. We also enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by local fishermen, grilled fish that was absolutely mouthwatering. This tour was a perfect mix of adventure and relaxation, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore the magic of Yucatan!

Embracing nature's whims in Las Coloradas! - We met some friends at the hotel who happened to be from the same place in the USA as us, se we invited them to join us on our trip to Las Coloradas. The honesty of the people from the agency really stood out to us. They explained that due to the resent bad weather, the sky had been cloudy, preventing the photoreceptor organisms form absorbing enough sunlight to give the "Rio Lagartos" lagoon its famous pink hues. Despite this, we appreciated the informative explanation and understood that the rain was beneficial for the animals, plants and Mayan farmers in the area. Many wild animals had been suffering from dehydration and hear strokes. Pons were drying up, and crops were being lost due to the lack of water. So, looking at it from that perspective, we could still enjoy the tour, even if the lagoon wasn't its usual deep pink. In Yucatan, it's usually sunny, but there are exceptions, like the weather we experienced. There's no one to blame, nature is unpredictable. Just enjoy it, like we did!

Would recommend but only if staying in Playa Del Carman. - This operator operates from Playa del Carman so if you are coming from Cancun, there is an extra hour journey in the morning and evening. Hotel pickups makes this easier but it is still a very early and late finish. I would not recommend this tour if you are staying in Cancun or make a purposely choice to stay in Playa Del Carman. Positives: Most of the activities were amazing: the pink lake and flamingos are breathtaking. The speed boat, mangroves, swimming and mud face packs were great. The late lunch was great. The food of high quality and plentiful. The town of Rio Lagartos is worth a visit but we were too rushed here. Drawbacks: The trip generally felt a little rushed. The crocodile farm felt cruel and everyone was lined up to hold the baby crocodiles one of which had its mouth taped shut. The farm operator would flick the crodiles eye to make it open its mouth for photographs. I watched but didn’t partake. Personally I think this bit should be exchanged for something like mangrove exploration, longer swimming or a tequila/agave plantation. Something which is supportive to the local economy but does not involve animal cruelty. The guide, Artura was full of energy. He had to repeat things in 3 languages but this worked okay although I was left waiting for the English bit a lot of the time. Despite the crocodile farm and long journey I would still recommend

If you like almost 10 hours sat on a bus... - Let’s start with the positives. Pablo, the guide, was great, helpful and informative especially as the tour seemed borderline chaotic in places. The Mayan mud bath was fun and did make my skin feel softer. The coach had a toilet on board. I read other reviews saying there had not been one but I am glad it did as things could have got ugly on the draining long drives. Let’s now look at the issues. Firstly, I am not sure if this tour is provided by the company or they are simply a vendor. I got the impression it was the latter as it appeared they provided taxis to and from the meeting points while it was not a TourBalloon Travel branded trip. Even so, the information for this tour is, being generous, misleading. The literature says a maximum of 12 people. Not accurate. There were 24 people on our tour and room for at least double that. Indeed, on the way back, we left the crocodile farm a little after 3.20pm and arrived in Playa de Carmen at around 7.10pm. The bus picked up at least 20 more people from different tours and we spent the next 90 minutes driving slowly and dropping some people at there hotels. We finally got to our hotel at 9.15pm. The “tax” is said to be P380 ($20) but we were charged $22.50. One review also said the tax was P480 ($24.68) so I guess it depends on the day how much they ask for. The “Pink Sea” is actually a lake at a commercial salt company. Yes, it’s pretty but the photos are misleading (you can’t stand in the lake and others look a tad strange). There was a power cut when we arrived (not the fault of the company) so we were not able to change into swimwear in the changing rooms. This entailed having to change in the toilet in the bus, which ate into a lot of time and was awkward. The boat ride was fun, although – aside from the mud bath – nothing that you can’t see or do in many other places. The restaurant (which had images that could potentially offend some travelers) was pretty mediocre. Food was okay. It had showers, which was helpful but the power cut meant no aircon or fans (or fridges for ice cold drinks) so it was sweltering. They also shortchanged me after I paid in US dollars and they gave me the change in pesos. The crocodile farm seems somewhat exploitative rather than about conservation. I wasn’t keen. While I was expecting a long day, I was not expecting a combined 10 hours or so in transit. That was longer than our flight from the UK and that is a very long day trip that I would say is not worth it I provided my feedback to the tour operator the following day but never received a response.
