Excellent tour that gives back to the community - Our tour guide was excellent, he took excellent care of our group. Chechen Itza is a great historical site, but it's also a tourist trap. The guide provided lots of helpful tips to enjoy this site without falling victim to scams. Seems that every shady spot has souvineer salesmen and they're very pushy, so watch out for that. The Cenote swim was awesome. I wish we had gotten more time there, but I think they cut it short as we were running behind schedule.
The Tour guide was fluent in multiple languages and was able to keep things entertaining during the long bus rides in between.
Proceeds from the tour have gone towards helping some local schools, so it's nice to see them trying to give back to the communities they're operating their tours in.

Too long. Too many extra sales pitches - Life jacket mandatory for Cenote swim and a separate cost not included. Tour pick up for us was at 6:50 AM. We did not get back to the resort until 9:30pm. Past the time we could even get dinner at our resort. There was poor communication about what the tour entailed and most of it felt like a sales gimmick. It states water and snacks not included but buffet lunch was—but water was also not included with the buffet so we paid 4$ a bottle and outside drinks not permitted. We stopped at several shops and also a man on the bus wanted to see us a bottle of booze. We just really wanted to see the archeological site and Cenote. Didn’t need to spend all the extra time being sold things.

Good tour, bad agent - This tour and the guide were great, this review and rating is not about them but the agent.
The agent cheated us, charging additional fees that were not mentioned in the listing.
They could not be reached by phone or email to find out pickup time, only contacting us last minute to let us know after we asked Viator to assist.
The fees were shown on the ticket, so be very careful to read the ticket after you book this tour and if you do not think the fees are fair, you can cancel for a full refund.
We were charged an additional 'environmental fee' of $27 US dollars per person. This I can accept., but what was not acceptable was the $10 fee per person for pickup at Super Aqi, which is the main free pickup point in Tulum for all tours.
Even though it did not mention the fee was for pickup at this location, the agent insisted on charging us this additional fee bringing the total extra to over $100 US.
To make it worse, they added another $10 randomly when we got on the bus.
Viator.com was great and did their best to assist with reaching this agent, but save yourself the stress, time and money wasted and go with a reliable agent who won't try and rip you off!

They didn’t pick us up so we didn’t get to go! - 0/10 - do not recommend.
We booked this excursion through Viator to visit Xichen Itzá and the cenotes during our honeymoon. I was in contact with an agent directly through Viator to confirming the booking. We confirmed pickup at our hotel at 6:30 AM, we were downstairs & ready by 6:20 AM and no one showed or answered when I tried to contact them directly. Finally, I got a hold of someone at Viator and they also said they couldn't get a hold of the person either - real sketch! We were on the phone with them for an hour & 40 minutes.
While on the phone, the guy that was supposed to pick us up sent a message saying he was here looking for us along with a video of the hotel at 7:40, but we were still in the lobby by the front doors and no one was there. We watched the video again and he said it was taken at 7:42 but it had a couple in the video that we were standing with who left at 6:45 AM.
He said we were a no show and didn't want to confirm a refund but even the guy in the lobby confirmed that no one came in and asked for us. Double sketch!!
Anyways....we talked with them about rebooking for the following day and they said the best they can do to makeup for all the madness was 5% which turned out to be $10 off the new price of a more expensive option which was double what we already paid. We were trying to ask them to at least price match but they said it's not possible. The guy that was supposed to pick us up denied our refund so we had to escalate it to the higher up management.
