Bacalar is Breathtaking - The 550am pickup didn't seem necessary, but it was a 3 hour ride to Bacalar. It was all worth seeing this beautiful area. 1st stop - Cenote Azul for breakfast and swim in a 90 meter cenote. 2nd stop Cenote Cocolitos for free time on an incredible shore with hammocks and swings in the most beautiful aqua wading height water. FYI - Restrooms are primitive. 3rd stop was Bacalar for a boat ride of the lake with a stop at the canal for swimming. The entire lake was incredibly calm and you can see so many different shades of blue and green, depending on the depth. Lunch was good and location was perfect to explore the famous fort they used to fight the invading pirates. It was a long but great day with our tour guide Arturo and our driver Javier. We arrived back to our hotel at 10pm. I would highly recommend a visit to this beautiful area on Mexico's southern border.
