The Xingó Canyon was formed when waters from the São Francisco River were dammed for the construction of the Xingó Hydroelectric Power Plant, which was completed in 1994. This fortuitous event led to the harmonious blending of the revered São Francisco River, one of the most significant rivers in Brazil, along with splendid, towering cliffs.

Our exploration begins bright and early at 6:30 in the morning with departures from local hotels to the dock, where we will embark on the Catamaran Rei do Cangaço or Delmiro Gouveia. During our journey, a knowledgeable local guide will share interesting facts about the area. We’ll have a pause for a refreshing dip in the crystalline waters of the ‘Velho Chico’ at the serene ‘Gruta do Talhado’.

Following an intimate experience with the location where “the backlands turned into sea”, we conclude our adventure and make our way back to the hotel, with an anticipated arrival time of 7:00 PM.
