The history of the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes is deeply intertwined with that of the Film Festival. Before a dedicated building was constructed, the initial ceremonies were held in the old Cannes casino. The new building was inaugurated on 09/11/1949 and was initially called Palais Croisette. It was replaced in 1983 by a new palace after the roof of the old one was damaged by a severe storm towards the end of the Festival. The current palace was built on the site of the old casino and opened in December 1982. It also hosts events such as the International Musical Publishing Market, MIPCOM, and the NRJ Music Awards. -
