It serves as the Mother Church of the global Anglican Communion, the seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the final resting place of royalty and saints.

Hever Castle & Gardens - With a history spanning over 600 years, Hever Castle’s past is rich and diverse. The original medieval defensive castle, complete with a gatehouse and walled bailey, was constructed in 1383. During the 15th and 16th centuries, it was home to the influential Boleyn family, who modernized the existing structures within the walls.
The Castle also stands as a testament to the extraordinary efforts of William Waldorf Astor, a wealthy American who, in the early 20th century, used his fortune to restore and expand the Castle, saving it from decay. Astor meticulously ensured that his craftsmen used materials and tools similar to those of Tudor and Elizabethan times.
The award-winning gardens at Hever Castle feature numerous stunning areas that are delightful to visit throughout the year. - Dover Castle - Dover Castle likely began as a motte and bailey castle, constructed following the Norman Conquest of 1066. It was transformed by King Henry II between 1179 and 1188, who built the keep, the inner bailey walls, and parts of the outer curtain wall.

- Hever Castle. The Water Maze. Cool down in the Water Maze but don’t forget to bring a towel! Situated on Sixteen Acre Island it is a maze with a difference that consists of a series of concentric stepping stone walkways sitting over water; at intervals the stones tilt when stood on and hidden water jets spring into action to soak the unwary visitor. The aim is to reach the stone grotto in the centre without getting wet. Few are successful although it is great fun and challenges young and old alike.
- For the Water Maze you must bring towels.
