From the base, the left waterfall and the western half of the right waterfall are under Vietnam’s jurisdiction in Dam Thuy commune, Trung Khanh district, Cao Bang province; the eastern half of the right waterfall is under China’s jurisdiction. This is a must-visit destination when traveling to Cao Bang.

Nguom Ngao Cave - Located in Gun Hamlet (Dam Thuy Commune, Trung Khanh District), 5km from Ban Gioc Waterfall, Nguom Ngao Cave is a natural wonder worth visiting in Cao Bang Province.
Discovered in 1921, it became a tourist attraction in 1996 and was recognized as a national nature site in 1998.
In the Tay ethnic language, “Nguom Ngao” means tiger cave. It is believed that the cave was once home to many tigers, hence its name. Another legend suggests that the roaring sounds are from the springs flowing in the cave, resembling an angry tiger’s roar, leading locals to name it Nguom Ngao Cave.
With a total length of 2,144m (including 1,000m open to tourists), the cave is ideal for nature enthusiasts. It has three main entrances: Nguom Ngao, Nguom Lom, and Ban Thuon (Tay names). Research indicates that Nguom Ngao Cave originated from limestone containing fossilized corals.
