Discovering the Enchanting Mount Angel Eye

As a seasoned urban explorer, I often find myself drawn to the vibrant pulse of city life, but every now and then, the call of nature beckons me to step outside my comfort zone. This time, it was the allure of Mount Angel Eye in Cao Bằng that captured my imagination. The promise of a short hike to a geological marvel, surrounded by a serene valley, was too tempting to resist.

The journey began with a drive through the lush landscapes of Cao Bằng, a refreshing change from the concrete jungles I’m accustomed to. As we approached Mount Angel Eye, the scenery unfolded like a living postcard. The valley, with its stretches of green grass and grazing horses and water buffaloes, was a sight to behold. The hike itself was invigorating, offering a perfect blend of adventure and tranquility. Reaching the “eye” of the mountain, I was rewarded with a panoramic view that was nothing short of breathtaking.

Immersing in Local Craft Villages

The adventure didn’t stop at the mountain. Our next destination was the Phuc Sen blacksmith village, a place where tradition and craftsmanship come alive. Watching the skilled blacksmiths at work, forging tools with precision and care, was a fascinating experience. It was a reminder of the rich cultural heritage that thrives in these villages.

We continued our exploration at the Dia Tren paper village, where the art of traditional papermaking has been preserved for generations. The process, intricate and labor-intensive, was mesmerizing to watch. The villagers, part of the Nung An ethnic group, shared stories of their craft, adding a personal touch to the experience. I couldn’t resist purchasing a few handmade paper products as souvenirs.

Our final stop was the Phia Thap incense village. Here, the air was filled with the soothing aroma of incense sticks drying in the sun. The villagers, with their warm smiles and welcoming nature, made us feel right at home. It was a delightful end to our exploration of the craft villages, leaving me with a deeper appreciation for the local culture.
