So fun! - What an excellent experience! From checking in to boarding all through the ride until we de boarded, every staff member was kind, friendly, and helpful. They were quite knowledgeable about the area. What a relaxing and enjoyable way to take in all the sights! Definitely recommend, but be sure you wear sunscreen and have a hat with you in case you want to step out onto the open air car!

Amazing views! - This was our favorite excursion during our stay in Colorado Springs. It was about an hour drive from Colorado Springs but well worth it. The staff was amazing and the train departed on time. The views were unlike anything we have ever seen. We booked coach tickets but did not sit in our seats at all. We could leave the outdoor standing room car. It was spectacular! Highly recommend!

Enjoyed this!! - Great ride. Very informative. Drinks are expensive. Can walk out to open car and get a better view of the canyon. See rafters going down the river.

One of our favorite Colorado experiences - My wife and I enjoyed a trip on the Royal Gorge Route Railroad the first weekend of June this year. We booked two seats in the Grand Vista Dome car. Our server Thomas did an amazing job, not only serving our food but he had a lot of interesting information, and sent us to our next destination after we got off the train. The food was really good. It's not five-star restaurant food, but it's much better than we expected it to be on the train. Walking through the other cars on our way to the open air car we realized that any seating would have been great on this train. But the dome car gives a great view up the gorge and booth seating. The view is unbeatable and the ride is rather nice. If you need to use the restroom while on the train I suggest the one in the bar cars, they are much larger than the standard cars. I also think that we planned our trip at the perfect time being the first weekend of June all the touristy things in the area were open and happening and the crowds are not yet gotten there. Another thing that worked out for us was we booked last minute and were put into dome car number 3 which only had about 12-15 people in it, being the most recent bookings. I think that's the way to go as long as it's not going to sell out. We would definitely suggest this as one of the adventures on your visit to Southern Colorado.

Beautiful Canyon Views and Train Ride with Lunch - We wanted to view the Royal Gorge Canyon by train, this did not disappoint. The entre ride is about 2 1/2 -3 hours lone which is perfect for those not wanting a 10+ hour excursion that some other canyon trains have. It would be good for kids and young adults as well as us older retired folks. We reserved a table in the Grande Vista Dome Car so that we could see upwards as well as out. We were seated with a pleasant couple from Illinois for the trip. All of us had pre-paid for lunches and drinks which we recommend. The wait staff is very efficient and have everyone served by the time train left the station. We took the 12:30 train: we were able to leave Denver at 8:30 and easily made the boarding time. If it is going to rain, it typically does it in the afternoon in Colorado. We had a little rain as we went through the canyon, but we were in the Dome Car having lunch and visiting so we were not affected. For the return trip (same route in reverse) we ventured to the open car to see the sites not through a window. It was beautiful and sunny. We got some great photos of the Royal Gorge Canyon, bridge, wildlife and the Arkansas River. We highly recommend this train ride and lunch (which was very good: I had the chicken sandwich and my wife had the salad).

Well run and Very Scenic Views. - [email protected] Tulsa,OK Breathtaking Views of the Royal Gorge June 2024 • We booked the Vista Dome car and enjoyed a delicious lunch and drinks. Service was great!! Thanks to team member Melissa. The Vista Dome grants access to open-air cars. Well worth booking the Dome to see the Royal Gorge views from this standpoint. Melissa shared with us interesting stories and history of the Royal Gorge area, especially history about the Water Line. Highly recommend this trip for all age groups.

Fun but hard to do with toddlers. - Great views of the Royal Gorge, bridge, rafters and one bighorn sheep. Outdoor car was the best! Lots of walking to and from the train in gravel and sand. They need to cater to kids more.

The Gorge is Gorgeous! - Sit on the left side! The chicken sandwich was pretty good and water was free! The views are wonderful and the open air car Ian amazing. Definitely worth the money and better than Pike’s Peak.

One and Done - Very expensive for the experience. Slow train ride to no where; with little views of you are not seated on the river side. Great service on the train. If you can find discount tickets get them.
