sad moment - It was a very emotional experience visiting the slave castles. This is my second time in Ghana, and my second time visiting these historic sites. I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn’t been before. It’s an important and moving part of history that’s worth experiencing.

Visit and learn - Every Black person should visit these historical sites to truly understand and connect with the past. The experience is deeply emotional and eye-opening. We had the opportunity to visit the Assin Manso Slave River and the Cape Coast Slave Castle, both of which carry the weight of a painful history that is hard to fully grasp until you stand in those places. At Assin Manso, we stood by the river where enslaved Africans were bathed before being sent to the coast. The place was filled with echoes of the past, each stone and ripple in the water telling stories of suffering, resilience, and survival. As we listened to the guide, the gravity of the history settled heavily in our hearts.

Sad - I had no idea enslaved Africans went through so much. I had heard of slavery and the stories, but visiting the slave castles, the reality I saw was different from what I had imagined back home in the States. I just hope everyone gets the chance to visit Ghana, see it with their own eyes, and learn more about it as well.

Cape Coast tour - I learn a lot on this tour. The tour guide was excellent. The transportation was good. I would recommend taking this tour to learn about the times in the past and as a black person, where your roots come from.
