Best Tour - I had the privilege of taking a private tour with Ruby, and it was an unforgettable experience! Ruby is a fun and energetic young lady who made the entire journey engaging and enjoyable. We visited incredible sites in Ghana, including Cape Coast Castle, Assin Manso Slave River, and the Door of No Return. Each stop was deeply powerful and humbling, offering so much history and meaning. To top it off, we had lunch at a stunning spot on the beach, which was the perfect way to reflect on the day. This was hands down one of the best private tours I’ve ever taken. Thank you, Ruby, for making this experience so special—I highly recommend her to anyone visiting Ghana!

Incredible Experience with an Incredible Guide - This experience was incredible. Ruby was our tour guide, and she was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and a joy to spend the day with. I highly recommend this tour, and I also recommend connecting with Ruby ahead of time. She was able to set up a separate custom experience for us on a day we'd left open, and having the same guide for multiple days was a great benefit and comfort. The venues, tours, food, and car rides were all wonderful, poignant, and educational. This experience was particularly powerful as a Black American traveling with my Black mother, aunty, and grandmother. The guides at the various locations emphasized the homecoming aspects of these locations, and, in particular, the "last bath" has been reworked to be the "first bath of return." The guide there perfectly balanced the horrors of what happened in that location (and the transatlantic slave trade in general) with the impact and resilience that allowed us to be in that same spot, hundreds of years later. A side note for American tourists, Accra and Ghana are unlike what you're used to; roads are bumpy, pothole-y, and sometimes unpaved; people drive very fast and often pass into incoming traffic; and a ton of pedestrians walk among traffic. I just wanted to pass on that information so folks aren't caught off guard (or try to blame the tour guides!). It's all part of the culture, and I can't recommend enough going through it all with an experienced local guide like Ruby.

Powerful, moving, informative - The Assin Manso river is a must do for those looking for heritage experiences. It was a truly powerful ritual. Our guide Ruby was lovely, and to e tour guide Kwame Divine gave a powerful yet tactful delivery of the information. The slave castle was also so important but a more difficult experience. Would recommend a private tour if possible so there is space to honor how emotional it is.

Assin Manso is the true winner - Ruby was a fabulous tour guide. The Assin Manso river experience is a must do for anyone seeking a heritage tour. It was deeply moving. The Slave castle, was an important and difficult experience. I would suggest that if you are from the diaspora that you go with a tour of people who are all part of the diaspora. It was difficult having others on the trip who didn’t “get it” in their bones.

Nsroma Adventures— Comfort and Care - Nsroma Adventures really take of me and my group, putting our minds to ease! Not only were they extremely accommodating, but were knowledgeable of history and local trivia. We knew our trip to the River, Naming Ceremony and Door of Return would be emotional so it was comforting to be taken care of by Nsroma Adventures!
