More of a zoo than a safari - Booked two day premium lodge with two game drives - Rooms: Upon checking in our room was on the ground floor with a broken sliding door making it radar unsafe and accessible. Upon flagging this to the General Manager he kindly moved our room up two floors. Unfortunately it didn’t get any better from there, the pillows were dirty and the smell of suggage in the room was indescribable. We went out on a game drive assuming the smell would pass (it didnt.) - Food: For the price you pay the all you can eat buffet is well below expectations (again not expecting Michelin star here) but basically free meat wouldn’t go a miss. Bread was stale and soup was cold (lunch and dinner) - Safari: It’s more like an inclosed zoo, they have very few animals within the grounds and the lions were nowhere to be seen (some other visitors doubted they even existed.) - Staff: Incredibly friendly Upon going back to our room after the game drive and dinner, we noticed the smell had not gone away and the showers were cold. My wife and I decided to cut our two night trip short and visited the general manager asking to be brought back to Cape Town the following morning (with the rest of the people only staying one night.) He informed me that this would come at an additional cost of 2900 RHD (on top of the 2900 RHD return fee we paid to get to the resort which was supposed to bring us back aswell) - to which at that point we had given up and just said we would pay. My wife is pregnant the place is unhealthy and was not safe to stay. Conclusion: if you are going to visit do a day trip or one night only. Two nights here is too much and the game drive does not warrant going out a second time. The compound is small and the staff are friendly but going by the GM reaction (first thing was to remind us there is no refund on second night, followed by the additional fee required to leave early - this is not an uncommon issue.) Stay away from this place. It is not a safari and I am requested a full refund from booking.com
