• Bo-Kaap - On our first stop we will explore Bokaap, one of the most history filled and creative side of Cape Town. This area is comprised of distinctive multi-coloured houses that are a mix of Cape Dutch and Georgian architecture along steeply cobbled roads. The choice of colour is believed to be attributed to the fact that while on lease, all the houses had to be white. When this rule was eventually lifted, and the Malay born slaves of the Cape were allowed to buy the properties, all the houses were painted bright colours by their owners as an expression of their freedom. There are many families in the Bo-Kaap that have been living there for generations. Today the Bo-Kaap community is a significant part of our cultural heritage and a photographer’s dream to get beautiful photos of colour, architecture, culture and fun.
