- Maidens’ Cove - This recreational space has a special history as it was one of the few beaches where nonwhite residents of Cape Town, South Africa, could enjoy a day at sea in a white-only area. Due to apartheid, they were forbidden to use other beaches such as Clifton and Camps Bay.
- Chapman’s Peak Drive - Named after John Chapman, the pilot of an English ship becalmed in today’s Hout Bay in 1607. The skipper sent his pilot ashore to find provisions, and the name was recorded as Chapman’s Chaunce.
- Cape of Good Hope - One historical account says that Dias named the promontory Cape of Storms, and then King John II of Portugal renamed it Cape of Good Hope because its discovery was a good omen that India could be reached by sea from Europe. Other sources attribute its present name to Dias.

It’s a popular spot for visitors to see African penguins up close in their natural habitat. The colony has a boardwalk that allows you to observe the penguins without disturbing them.
- Muizenberg - Muizenberg, located on the False Bay coast of Cape Town, South Africa, has a rich history. Originally inhabited by the indigenous Khoisan people, it later became a Dutch colonial outpost in the 17th century. In the 19th century, it transformed into a popular destination, attracting visitors with its sandy beaches and warm waters, and colorful houses on the beach.
