Enriching tour of a Township - Very interesting and enriching tour of Langa Township with a very nice guide. I recommend seeing the other side of Cape Town, learning more about the country’s history, and interacting with and supporting the black population of the Townships.

A Must-Do Experience in Cape Town – Eye-Opening and Authentic - If you’re visiting Cape Town, this walking tour through the township is an absolute must-do. It’s a unique opportunity to truly experience the heart of the city and gain a deeper understanding of local life. Our guide, Luthando Sishuba King did an exceptional job. His passion, knowledge, and warm personality made the tour unforgettable. You can immediately tell he’s not just a guide—he’s part of the community, living in the township himself and sharing his authentic perspective. The tour was incredibly eye-opening, offering insight into the culture, challenges, and strong sense of community within the township. Despite any preconceived notions I might have had, I never felt unsafe at any point during the tour. This experience gets a solid 10 out of 10 from me—something I would do again without hesitation. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Cape Town!

An unforgettable experience with Kazi! - We took the Township Tour in Langa and had an amazing experience. Our guide, Kazi, who grew up and still lives in Langa, did a fantastic job of showing us the area and sharing fascinating insights into the history and daily life of the residents. It was a mix of exciting, thought-provoking, and at times, overwhelming moments, but it gave us a deep understanding of life in the township. We felt completely safe throughout the tour. We highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to see the authentic side of Cape Town and learn more about life in the townships.

Highly recommend for a more fulsome view of Cape Town - As a black American, I have to say I was skeptical at the idea of a township tour; I worried it might be exploitative but reading previous reviews convinced me and I’m so glad they did. The tour is not only community-led but also allows people from an important and historic part of Cape Town to tell their story to visitors who might otherwise have a deeply incomplete understanding of the city and to benefit from tourism that often goes to select few places. As beautiful and sparkling as the Mother City is, the effects of apartheid are still present and the project of equity and restitution remains unfinished. The tour provides a glimpse into the how and why. I also really lucked out having Kazi as a guide. She is warm, knowledgeable, and invested in the community. It felt like visiting with a very informed friend who took me through the history of the area, as well as present challenges and opportunities. I have to echo others who said this was a highlight of their Cape Town trip, especially if you are someone who travels to understand other places and cultures. One could even go multiple times because it’s so personalized and adaptive. There is no script, no proscribed stops, just a rare and beautiful invitation for connection and insight. Also, I’m sure all the guides are great but if you want something really special, I can’t recommend Kazi enough! Thank you!

You should definetly have done this - It was an amazing experience. We joined the church first and visited langa township with all its cultural, historical and economic sights. Chippa explained the coherences very good. I feltvery safe at all time and also had the feeling that it was not a problem that we as tourist visited the peoples home. Thanks for this very authentic tour.

AMAZING knowledge filled tour of Langa Township - I am absolutely blown away by our tour today! We learned so much about the history of Langa and the political/systemic complexity of townships in Cape Town. Our tour guide Chippa gave us an incredibly thorough history that really set the stage for the rest of the tour where we got to walk through the township ourselves. He showed us all corners of it: government houses, tin shacks, and even some of the nicer areas. It was incredible to meet and see the families and kids in their environment. This is something everyone should do when they are visiting South Africa, as the townships are an extremely large part of the community and culture here. I would be happy to come again soon. Thank you Langa!

Outstanding experience - We have long considered whether the tour is ethically justifiable. After the tour we have no more concerns. We learned so much. And were warmly welcomed to the township. We felt welcome and safe all the time.

The tour with Chippa left us well informed and with a better understanding of Cape Town! - Chippa was fabulous! He was well versed in the history of the Cape and knowledgeable about the unique issues of South Africa. He was sensitive to us and our feelings about parts of the tour offering reassurance while showing us the difficult living situations that people live in.
