Chapman’s Peak Drive - Connecting Hout Bay with Noordhoek, Chapman’s Peak stands majestically at the heart of Chapman’s Peak Drive. Constructed between 1915-1922 under the supervision of Commissioner De Vaal, the 11 km route features 114 curves, making it one of the most dramatic marine routes in the world. The road was closed to the public for three years between 2000-2003 due to a fatal rockfall. Chapman’s Peak Drive also offers excellent hiking experiences up the peak, through Silvermine Nature Reserve and Table Mountain National Park, and some unexpected whale-watching spots.

Cape of Good Hope - Cape Point, located at the southwestern tip of the Cape Peninsula, is a place of dramatic scenery, fascinating history, and diverse wildlife.
Breathtaking Views: Stand at the legendary Cape of Good Hope, a symbolic landmark where two oceans seemingly meet (though geographically not the southernmost tip of Africa). Enjoy the panoramic vistas of the rugged coastline and crashing waves.
Fynbos Kingdom: Explore the unique fynbos vegetation, one of the world’s six floral kingdoms, with an abundance of colorful flowers and plants. Spot a variety of birdlife, including penguins, ostriches, and even whales during migration season (June to November).
Historic Lighthouse: Take the Flying Dutchman funicular railway to the top and explore the historic Cape Point Lighthouse, offering stunning views and a glimpse into maritime history.
Nature Reserve: Hike or bike through the Cape Point Nature Reserve, a protected area with diverse wildlife and scenic trails.

Boulders Beach Penguin Colony - Boulders Beach, located near Simon’s Town on the Cape Peninsula, is a sight unlike any other. This beach isn’t just known for its soft white sand and refreshing waters; it’s a haven for a colony of African penguins. Boulders Beach is a fantastic spot for a family outing. Kids will love watching the penguins, exploring the rock pools teeming with marine life (at low tide), and building sandcastles.

Simon’s Town - Simon’s Town is one of the most delightful little villages, situated 40 km outside the city. See Victorian architecture, the Naval Base, and the statue of Just Nuisance, who was formally enrolled in the Royal Navy and given the title Able Seaman. Simon’s Town itself is a quaint and interesting little town. The waterfront here is an extremely attractive area with a number of small boutiques selling clothing, artistic items, and bric-a-brac souvenirs. There is an excellent choice of restaurants within walking and driving distance. The town is well known for its Naval Museum, Toy Museum, and Simon’s Town Cultural Museum. The Scratch Patch is also an important tourist attraction where one can search for a wide variety of beautiful gemstones. The town is also the seat of the South African Navy and has a charming coastal town atmosphere and a vibrant history.

Muizenberg - Muizenberg is located on the northwestern corner of False Bay, about 25 km from Cape Town CBD. Muizenberg rightly earned its status as the country’s premier holiday retreat in the 19th century. Historical sites in Muizenberg include the oldest building on the False Bay coast known as Het Posthuys (1742), originally used by the Dutch East India Company as a toll-house to levy a tax on farmers selling their produce to passing ships. Despite a slight air of tawdriness, Muizenberg’s gently shelving, sandy beach is the most popular along the peninsula for swimming, and with good reason. It’s safe for bathing, the water tends to be flat and warm, and there’s good surfing in its breakers, creating a friendly family atmosphere. The waves are not too powerful for bodyboarding and surfing.
-
Bo-Kaap - Bo-Kaap, also known as the Malay Quarter, is a colorful and culturally rich neighborhood located on the slopes of Signal Hill. It’s a feast for the senses, bursting with history and charm.
