Highlights
  • Cape Town Central - Shortly after pick-up, we’ll travel along the M5 and connect with the M4 via Muizenberg, St. James, and Fish Hoek beaches, all located along the picturesque False Bay coastline, on our way to Boulder’s Beach Penguin Colony.
  • Muizenberg Beach - As we pass through Muizenberg Beach, you’ll see the stretch of charming, colorful beach huts in the distance. These huts resemble the “bathing machines” of the 1800s—a cart-like structure that was wheeled to the water’s edge, allowing ladies to change into their chin-to-ankle bathing wear and enjoy the shallow waters. Today, the beach huts serve as changing rooms for sunbathers and surfers alike.
  • St James Beach - Similar to Muizenberg, the beach huts at St. James Beach are also used by sunbathers as changing rooms. We’ll stop here for a few minutes so you can take some fun photos with these colorful huts before we continue to Boulder’s Beach Penguin Colony.
  • Kalk Bay Harbour - We’ll drive past Kalk Bay Harbour, which feels more like a fishing village, with fishing boats docking and fish traders showcasing their catch. Fresh fish is available for purchase daily. The sights, smells, and refreshing sea air are truly spectacular.
  • Fish Hoek Beach - As we pass through Fish Hoek Beach, you’ll notice the warm Indian Ocean waters that flow into the False Bay area, making Fish Hoek a popular beach for swimming and sunbathing on its long stretches of warm, white sand.
  • Boulders Beach Penguin Colony - We’ll stop at Boulder’s Beach to visit the African Penguin colony. Boulder’s Beach is one of the best beaches in Cape Town for swimming and sunbathing. While close encounters with the African penguins are possible, they are not guaranteed. We’ll take a walk along the boardwalk to the official penguin colony location to see them in their natural habitat. The colony is home to approximately 3,000 African Penguins who spend their days frolicking in the False Bay waters, basking in the sun, and parading on the granite boulders.
  • Cape of Good Hope - After our visit with the charming African Penguins, we’ll head to the highlight of the day: The Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point Nature Reserve. No visit to Cape Town is complete without a photo behind the Cape of Good Hope name board. We’ll explore the nature reserve while the tour guide shares historical stories about the Bartholomew Dias and Vasco Da Gama beacons. The Cape of Good Hope is home to a variety of fauna and flora, including fynbos (fine bush), over 250 species of birds, ostriches, buck, baboons, and the Cape mountain zebra. We advise guests to be vigilant and not get too close to the wild animals, as they can become aggressive. No close contact or feeding is allowed.
  • Old Cape Point Lighthouse - After exploring the Cape of Good Hope, we’ll drive to Cape Point, where visitors can take a short hike up to the Cape Point lighthouse or opt for the Flying Dutchman Funicular (additional charge at own expense). Many believe that Cape Point is the meeting point of the Two Oceans. However, it is actually the official meeting point of the two ocean currents: the cold Benguela and the warm Agulhas currents. The Cape Point lighthouse is the most powerful on the South African coast.
  • Chapman’s Peak Drive - If operational, we’ll drive through Chapman’s Peak Drive, one of the most scenic routes in the world. We’ll stop for a few minutes at the viewpoint to take some photos.
  • Cape Town Central - Upon our return to Cape Town, visitors will be dropped off at the same pick-up point where they were collected in the morning.

Fun experience - Good tour with lots of scenic points. Would recommend bringing snacks and water as it can be a long tour. Lots of bumpy and windy roads to get to the points - so be sure to being medicine if you get nauseous.

Excellent half day tour hitting 2 must see destinations. - We had a wonderful day from start to finish. Our guide Shafiek was exceptional throughout. He gave loads of information as we left capetown towards boulder beach and cape of good hope. He was very patient and stopped whenever a sight of interest was to be observed. Great way to see 2 key destinations in half the time.

Professional even when encountering adversity - Mr Djiby was a very professional driver. He dealt with issues with dignity and grace including an incident where the ticket agent at the entry to Cape Point refused to allow him to use her lane for payment. Mr. Djiby, who is black, was treated very rudely by the ticket agent who was, according to South African lingo “colored”. Her actions were disgraceful. He was, however, a gentleman throughout.

A great half day trip out! - We had a great half day our visiting Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point and the penguins at Boulders Beach. We had good communication with Gordon who answered all my questions prior to the trip and he was prompt at collecting us from our hotel. He was very warm and instantly made us all feel relaxed and had lots of great information about the different areas we passed during our ride to The Cape of Good Hope. He made sure we got there in enough time as the crowds and ques soon started to build when we were on our way back. When we got to Boulders Beach to see the penguins, the que was very long. However, Gordon went to the front and must know somebody because the next thing we know we were moving past everybody to the front and got through straight away which was great. We just paid him afterwards at a different stop with a cash point. He stopped at various view points to get us some great pictures and even took some for us which was lovely. The group were small and friendly and we were lucky that the weather was beautiful. We arrived back around 2:30 but we asked Gordon to drop us off at Camps Bay instead as it was so lovely and we hadn’t visited it yet which he gladly did. All in all, a great trip out!
