- Robben Island Museum - Pick-up at your accommodation in Cape Town. You will receive a shared transfer from your hotel in Cape Town to the Silo District, where you will be escorted to the Nelson Mandela Gateway. Here, you will board a shared charter to the Robben Island Museum, where a former political prisoner will guide your tour of the island. (Please note that our tour guide/driver will not accompany you on the Robben Island Museum tour.) The entire tour lasts approximately 4 hours, including hotel pick-up. Part of the tour involves being transported around the island by bus, before visiting Nelson Mandela’s prison cell and taking the long walk to freedom. Upon returning to the Jetty, your tour guide or driver will meet you at the entrance of the Nelson Mandela Gateway.

HYM Cape Tours - I booked our visit to Robben Island through HYM Cape Tours. They were very professional and extremely friendly, we were collected from our hotel on time and taken to the gate of the ferry and they offered to take us back to our hotel after the trip. They couldn’t have been more helpful,

Robben island Tour - The tour was amazing and I’ve learnt much about the history and the actual function of the robben island . I and my mom really enjoyed it. The guides from the island and even our driver Murashi also very funny and informative. Highly recommend

Great day, Insightful Tour, Lovely Customer Experience - I had a last minute schedule change and couldn’t get tickets to Robben Island Tour for next day. Hotel concierge couldn’t help me out either. Came across Hym Cape Tours and reached out to them after hours and Mr. Murashi was were very responsive and within 30 min of exchanging emails, I had my tickets to Robben Island Tour. Mr. Murashi even offered to pick up from Hotel to the Harbor in the morning. The communication and experience with Hym Cape Tours/Mr. Murashi was excellent allowing me to see and enjoy the Tour in the best CT outdoor weather. I highly recommend their tour services.

Cape of Good Hope and Penguin tour - This was a fantastic tour and met all our goals for seeing the Cape of Good Hope and Chapmans Peak and the Boulders Beach Penguins all with a private driver and fantastic driver in an 8 person air conditioned van.

Memorable visit of prison and Island, nice and knowledgeable tour guide ,nice ex prisoner, good national heritage - Nice tour , did a day return from Joburg, tour manager, was helpful Evans his name ,with a driver guide Faizal nice souls.

Rushed day due to ferry problems - On arrival at jetty, informed of delay, due to problem with boat. They brought in to smaller ferries for the transfer to the Island. Their normal ferry takes 30 mins the replacements we're ghe slow boats to China and took an hour each way, so thst curs down time on Island. Put onto bus and taken to various points and given commentary about various aspects. Final stop was the main jail, where Nelson Mandela was housed. They use ex prisoners to do the guided tour. You can see and hear their stories filled with enthusiasm of their time imprisoned to show you what it was like. They can get carried away and time quickly slips by, then rush back to the ferry. Our group did not get time to visit the gift shop and other bits on the jetty. Plus a rush to use the toilets facilities befor re-embarking on the ferry. We ended up arriving back into the V&A waterfront an hour late partially due to the ferry problem. On another note, the ferry journey can become a bit rough due to the swell which flows between the main land and the Island. Which happened on the days we went. If you suffer from travel sickness, then advise to take some sea sick pills.

Robben Island Tour: Krotoa - We had to stand and wait for 1.5 hours before boarding the ferry to Robben Island, which was tiring and significantly shortened the half-day tour. The bus tour of the island was brief, with stops at the site where Robert Sobukwe was held, a drive-by of the Church of the Good Shepherd and Limestone Quarry (from a distance), and a quick stop at the tuck shop before the prison tour. The tour was guided by a former political inmate who shared their life experiences in prison. The large groups made the experience feel a bit impersonal, and we would have liked to explore more of the island.

Extremely overpriced wish... - Extremely overpriced wish I had read reviews before hand. Book directly with Robben Island tours for 600rand per person an Uber one way will be about 130 rand so total cost about 2200 rand instead of 5000rand we paid. The actual tour is very informative so pleased we did go, but do it under your own steam.
