Highlights
Pick up from your hotel within the city centre or close surrounds. This comprehensive 5-hour route of Table Mountain begins on the jeep track from the picturesque Camps Bay or Atlantic Ocean side of the mountain. It connects to the historic Pipe Track and ascends Kasteelpoort, a steady climb through a beautiful, open ravine. Midway, visit ‘breakfast rock,’ a fantastic photo spot with views of Lions Head and the Atlantic Ocean. At the top of Kasteelpoort, take a moment to explore the remnants of the historic Old Cableway. Here, the daring can venture onto ‘diving board rock’ for an incredible photo to share back home. From the Old Cableway, the path ascends part of the Valley of the Red Gods and into the Valley of Isolation, featuring intriguing rock formations that create a bowl-like valley.
Next, it descends into Echo Valley and climbs the backside of Table Mountain via three ladders (bolted into the rock). The views overlooking the city below from here are not to be missed. At the summit, the descent is via the Cableway, weather permitting.

- Food and drinks, unless specified. A lunchbox can be included for R150 per person which includes 2L of water, a sandwich, seasonal fruit and snacks for the day. Please contact your local supplier if you wish to include this.

A Table Mountain hike with Lauren is not to be missed in Cape Town! - Lauren is great! We didn’t have a lot of time in Cape Town so she organized everything from transportation, route, snacks, water and equipment. We were able to hike to the top of Table Mountain during our short stay. Lauren is enthusiastic and knowledgeable. She loves hiking and South Africa. This a Cape Town excursion not to be missed.

Stunning views, challenging hikes, and lovely company! - I had two solo hikes on my 5 days in Cape Town, both with Yvette. The first was Table Mountain, up the Woody Ravine and down Kasteelspoort (~4.5 hours). It was a challenging hike but she keeps your pace and takes breaks often to allow you time to take in the views. We ran into two German tourists who were a bit lost and unprepared and she not only helped them and had them join us for a bit but she also spoke German! She is so kind and knowledgeable about all the things (the trails, plants, animals, city, history, world travels, languages, movies, pop culture…you name it)! She’s a fantastic guide, very personable and fun to spend several hours with hiking through Table Mountain (and she provides tasty snacks!). Due to weather, we had to pivot on the Lion’s Head sunset hike and instead did the Cecilia Forest at the Back Table, which was so completely different from the Camps Bay side of the mountain - very lush woodlands with waterfalls. Both hikes were great!! I would highly recommend using Mother City Hiker as they provide everything you need (backpack, rain jacket, walking sticks, water, snacks, knowledgeable guides, and good fun!).

Great experience! - We had the most wonderful day hiking table mountain with our guide, Yvette. She picked us up from our hotel in the morning where we discussed the route we would take. She helped us figure out the best hiking path based on our preferences and ability with the weather and wind in mind. Along the hike, Yvette shared insight on the flora and fauna and history of South Africa. We found her to be super knowledgeable and really fun to spend time with.
She also brought us jackets and backpacks with water and snacks to help us have an enjoyable and safe hike. She really exceeded expectations in this area also - creating thoughtful drawings on the snack bag and baking homemade brownies for us to enjoy along the way.
She also stopped to take our photos many times along the hike which we really appreciated!
Highly recommend!

Solo hike with a local expert! - My hike with Mother City Hikers was nothing short of amazing. I took a solo hike with Johan, who not only guided me on the hiking route, but taught me so much about the history of the land and nature of the greater Cape Town peninsula. The views were amazing and we even took a breathe and had some Rooibos tea on the mountain. I cannot recommend this experience enough!

Challenging Fun Hike! - My Husband and I went hiking with Mother City Hikers and had such a rewarding experience. We hiked with Henning and he was the absolute best. So thoughtful and knowledgeable. He had everything prepared for us, walked us through what to expect, made sure we had what we needed to have a good time. My husband and I aren’t super proficient hikers and had only hiked at max half the elevation gain of this route, so it was a decent challenge for us. Henning allowed us to set the pace and kept us learning new things about the route and South Africa in general. This experience made me feel so accomplished and proud. Thanks so much!

We love Mother City Hiking! - My husband and I went on a hike with Mother City Hiking during our Honeymoon in November and we both agree they are AMAZING! Lauren is such a caring, wondering soul who infuses personal touches into your experience that go above and beyond the expected. She also works with you to understand exactly what type of hike will suit you so you have your best day! Our tour guide, Matt, was incredibly knowledgeable and kind and taught us so much about the history, culture and nature of Cape Town. We could not have had a better experience with the team at Mother City Hiking, not to mention the actual hike was breathtaking and exactly perfect for what we had envisioned!!! If you want to go on a hike in Cape Town, definitely book with Mother City they are 10/10 😊😊

Great Hike of an Iconic Landmark - Cape Town was our first stop on our Africa trip and the Table Mountain hike with Johan was a great way to get started. Johan was terrific - knowledgeable (seriously, he was like an eagle scout who knew everything about the mountain), prepared (with some things we didn't think to bring!), and taking everything at the speed we wanted to go, offering various options as we went. He took care of getting the tickets for the cable car and the view from the top was spectacular. The personal attention we received from Johan was first rate and we would definitely do this hike again if we come back to South Africa.

Excelente mountain guide - I had two wonderful and rewarding experiences following my guide Johan October for both hikes to the Lion’s Head and Table Mountain. Johan knows every inch of the terrain, enthusiastically shared with me all plants and wildlife species along the way, patiently. I was very proud to overcome my weaknesses under Johan’s direction and climbed to the top of the world in a windy, misty and cold winter day.

Amazing hike with great guide - Amazing hike with Johan! He set a doable pace for this steep ascent all while imparting his knowledge of the flora/fauna as well as great historical perspective. Be prepared for many climate changes. Highly recommend!
