strenuous and enjoyable - Yvette was a terrific and accomplished guide as she led us up the short but steep path up to Table Mountain. She was personable, very well-travelled and kept the pace appropriate to our group. I highly recommend her and the company.

Exciting and Safe Lion's Head Guided Hike - We hiked Lion’s Head with Henning on one of our first tours in Cape Town. He came prepared with extra water, snacks, and supplies. We moved at our pace and he was knowledgeable about the history of South Africa and local fauna and flora. We likely would not have hiked Lion’s Head without a guide. He made us feel safe navigating parts of the hike that were a bit trickier.

Highly recommend Mother City Hiking, experienced guides, and very responsive - Very responsive to our needs. Due to bad weather we had to modify the hike based on the wind direction and rain. Our guide, Yvette provided excellent options of various hikes that would be safer during these conditions. All the gear and snacks were provided. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the geology and plants. We had a great time.

Great Experience! - We had an amazing experience with Johan hiking up Table Mountain! He was extremely knowledgeable about the mountain and we stopped along the way to learn about various plants, animals, bird calls, etc.
The weather on the mountain was foggy and limited our view from the top of the mountain, but that just made the day feel even more special as it allowed us to focus on the mountain itself.
Would highly recommend for any couple or group that wants to visit the area!

A Table Mountain hike with Lauren is not to be missed in Cape Town! - Lauren is great! We didn’t have a lot of time in Cape Town so she organized everything from transportation, route, snacks, water and equipment. We were able to hike to the top of Table Mountain during our short stay. Lauren is enthusiastic and knowledgeable. She loves hiking and South Africa. This a Cape Town excursion not to be missed.

Stunning views, challenging hikes, and lovely company! - I had two solo hikes on my 5 days in Cape Town, both with Yvette. The first was Table Mountain, up the Woody Ravine and down Kasteelspoort (~4.5 hours). It was a challenging hike but she keeps your pace and takes breaks often to allow you time to take in the views. We ran into two German tourists who were a bit lost and unprepared and she not only helped them and had them join us for a bit but she also spoke German! She is so kind and knowledgeable about all the things (the trails, plants, animals, city, history, world travels, languages, movies, pop culture…you name it)! She’s a fantastic guide, very personable and fun to spend several hours with hiking through Table Mountain (and she provides tasty snacks!). Due to weather, we had to pivot on the Lion’s Head sunset hike and instead did the Cecilia Forest at the Back Table, which was so completely different from the Camps Bay side of the mountain - very lush woodlands with waterfalls. Both hikes were great!! I would highly recommend using Mother City Hiker as they provide everything you need (backpack, rain jacket, walking sticks, water, snacks, knowledgeable guides, and good fun!).

Great experience! - We had the most wonderful day hiking table mountain with our guide, Yvette. She picked us up from our hotel in the morning where we discussed the route we would take. She helped us figure out the best hiking path based on our preferences and ability with the weather and wind in mind. Along the hike, Yvette shared insight on the flora and fauna and history of South Africa. We found her to be super knowledgeable and really fun to spend time with.
She also brought us jackets and backpacks with water and snacks to help us have an enjoyable and safe hike. She really exceeded expectations in this area also - creating thoughtful drawings on the snack bag and baking homemade brownies for us to enjoy along the way.
She also stopped to take our photos many times along the hike which we really appreciated!
Highly recommend!

Solo hike with a local expert! - My hike with Mother City Hikers was nothing short of amazing. I took a solo hike with Johan, who not only guided me on the hiking route, but taught me so much about the history of the land and nature of the greater Cape Town peninsula. The views were amazing and we even took a breathe and had some Rooibos tea on the mountain. I cannot recommend this experience enough!

Challenging Fun Hike! - My Husband and I went hiking with Mother City Hikers and had such a rewarding experience. We hiked with Henning and he was the absolute best. So thoughtful and knowledgeable. He had everything prepared for us, walked us through what to expect, made sure we had what we needed to have a good time. My husband and I aren’t super proficient hikers and had only hiked at max half the elevation gain of this route, so it was a decent challenge for us. Henning allowed us to set the pace and kept us learning new things about the route and South Africa in general. This experience made me feel so accomplished and proud. Thanks so much!
