Generations of the Apicella family have dedicated themselves to the cultivation of their land, producing superior table wine up until the early 1970s. The first vintage introduced to the market was the 1977 one, of approximately 3000 bottles of Tramonti red wine, marking the inauguration of the Giuseppe Apicella winery and three decades of prosperity. Apicella stands as the historic symbol of viticulture on the Amalfi Coast. As the first to bottle the wine in Tramonti, a vital agricultural hub and protector of local biodiversity, Apicella has consistently maintained a balanced production, imbued with a traditional, non-exaggerated style. Wine tasting commences with a tour of the historic A’ Scippata family vineyard, a pre-phylloxera pergola situated a 5 minute walk from the cellar. The tour then progresses to the cellar for a breakdown of the manufacturing process, the fermentation of both red and white wines, their stabilization and maturation periods.
