Takes you back 5000 years! Where else in the world? - This trip is not for everyone. It's about 12 hours and 7 of that is driving there and back from Lima. That said, it is amazing. Jose was an excellent guide, friendly, full of interesting information and he genuinely cares about your experience. The site is astounding and really takes you back 5000 years to the second oldest civilization in the world. It's too bad this is not a more world renowned site. For someone with patience and stamina, the payoff is well worth the effort.

Well worth the long drive to Caral - A well organised trip with an excellent driver and José, our guides. Early start around 5 a.m. is necessary as there were 6 other ppl to be picked up from Miraflores hotels but the route was efficient and the pickup went fast. Then a 4 hours drive up towards North to Caral, the midway stop was great to stretch legs. Arrived to Caral around 10 a.m. when José led us between the discovered ruined buildings of this 5000 year old settlement. Jose has a great knowledge of the site and he patiently answered the numerous questions our curious group put to him. After Caral an hour drive to Barranca to have a lunch in an popular and excellent restaurant and a chance to rest along the ocean, followed by the gorgeous views from the hilltop Christ statue. The 4 hours drive back to Lima was a bit of a trek but it was a part of an adventure. All in all it was a great day but I have the following observations: 1) the minibus seats are quite tight for most European and North American size ppl especially for a long drive 2) Would have been great to have a microphone or a speaker on the minibus and to hear some commentary during the drive about the -mostly industrial and barren scenery, some general history of Peru or even the current social and industrial situation of the areas.

Caral pyramids, Peru - This became a private tour!! We were extremely excited to visit Caral pyramids with our tour guide José, and driver Antonio. The car was very comfortable as well as the ride. José and Antonio were very nice. It was our second tour hired through TripAdvisor and it didn’t disappoint!!! Both meal stops were tasty, and fairly priced. We were able to see other parts of Perú, different from what we were able to visit while in Lima, and our tour to Paracas and Huacachina. My husband and I are already planning going back next year!! Thanks!!

Don't miss the Pyramids in Peru - A fantastic site and hardly any visitors. I hope more people will recognise and visit the amazing pyramids in Peru. The pyramids are dated to 3000 BC. Fantastic!

Amazing day - We had an amazing time visiting Caral. Our guide José was friendly, approachable, and informative. He took us on a detailed tour of the city and also pointed out interesting facts along the way. We were also taken to a gorgeous restaurant for ceviche with friendly staff and beautiful views. When we were picked up we were also met with water and snacks which was really appreciated. Honestly could not recommend this trip any more!

Great tour! - A must see, the old civalization of caral. After a long drive worth it to see the city and valley. Our guide Jose explaines a lot about the caral civalization. Later we had a very good lunch at a local restaurant in Barranca. Quick stop at the cristo statue, nice beach view.

Caral is a must see! - Caral is a must see! This tour was really good, learned a lot about archeology's theories of the oldest pyramids in the Americas. Happy we made the trip with Peruna!
